silly people on ebay

This guy had a bunch of parts for the same bike up for auction all ending at like the same time. Ok fine whatever. Lots of the parts never sold, I did win one item in particular but I was interested in lots of other bits.

So I sent him a message basically saying, hey you had parts that didn't sell, I was interested in them, (left my personal email) (wink wink/nudge nudge) do you plan on putting them back up for sale (again wink wink/nudge nudge)

he replies bike, yeah I am putting them back up today on ebay

That's fine I guess, if you like paying the ebay and paypal fees, no sweat off my back but i'z trying to help a brother out and we both get what we want

whatevs

How did you give him your email addy without ebay filtering it?

When I sent a seller my email as:

Cadd6969 at gmail dot com

It got flagged and I wasn't able to send it.

Not that eBay has ever done anything to protect me as a seller, but maybe he thought you were gonna rip him off or something.

I was a silly person on ebay today

got caught up bidding on an item that i wanted but only at a certain price point, my last bid was more so just to do it, i literally bid the next highest amount, as i kept getting out bid pretty quickly and figured it would never last.... well not this time so i ended up with the item.

All said and done after shipping i still think it was a decent deal but probably not something i should have purchased. Oh well, whatevs

that's my motto

That's why I use esnipe. I put in what I feel is my max amount for an item and set the bid time for 3 seconds before the auction ends.

If I win then I win and no one can come back and over bid me after the fact.

If I didn't bid enough, then it wasn't meant to be.

Since ebayers are so annoying. I bought something a while back and was super excited about it. The next day I learn that the seller canceled the transaction. Whatever, I got my money back. But then that foo reposted it a couple days later. -_____-

When the sellers put things at auction a lot of times good deals can be had, the whole "Buy it now, no auction" option gets annoying, sellers just sitting on an item at some crazy stupid price just hoping some sucker thinks it's worth it or accidently clicks and they get a pay day.

I just watched a complete set of R1 wheels with tires and rotors in decent shape go for $150 I really really wanted them but I just spent my $ on some rare older bits for my project bike. I needed to apply the brakes, this ebay stuff was getting out of hand over the last 2 weeks

Still should have just bought those damn wheels, I doubt ill find them cheaper or even close to that

I was the silly ebay person the other day.

Inverted forks for the virago project, Seat for the KLR, wide rear wheel for the Ninja. Kathmandu Pants for me, I should probably stop soon...

Overall it's better for you, going through ebay and paypal helps protect the buyer.

Yeah, eBay folks always seem to overprice their (junk) sewing machine parts/accessories and want to grab a sucker in.

Now, granted, eBay was where I basically went through a bunch of cheap CDIs before I found one that worked back when I had my 250.

I got shilled on a GPX250 frame starting £10 , I put in a max bid and on the last day there were about 20 small bids all from the same person up to my max then last bid retracted.
eBay don't seem to do anything when you report it though They should because it is a crime, not just 'gamesmanship'.

Ebay is pissing me off as of the last week or so. They must have changed how their search engine works and how it brings up sales/auctions and lists them for people to see.

A few things I have listed recently are buried 3 pages deep when I do a somewhat generic search while a bunch of useless unrelated buy it now garbage comes up as a better match

How the hell am I supposed to sell this stuff at auction for a reasonable price if no one can see it?!

As the auction gets closer to closing time it should move up the list onto the first search page but that will most likely be too little too late.

Glad to know my rare OEM parts are on page 3 while stupid universal outdoor bike cover and bearing kits are on page 1

Strange to relate, Subxero, I have just come off ebay myself in a fruitless search for bookcases which has returned 9000 items most of which don't even have "bookcase" in the title
So basically I second your post, they seem to have messed with the searches to feed you any crap with a vague connection like all items made from wood or metal

These for instance are on page one of a "bookcase" search
