For me, it's dry reds: cabs; merlots; syrahs; petit syrahs; chiantis, sangios; tempranillos; blends, etc. But a nice chard with a bit of bite or even a pinot noir will do with chicken or seafood.

Hard to beat a nice dry red blend with a bacon cheeseburger!

Oh wow, yum! I'm currently enjoying a Sculpin IPA from Ballast Point. Scores 98% on beer advocate. I can taste why! http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/199/29619/

Yuengling Lager and Batch 19, a newer "Pre-Prohibition Style Lager" made by Coors. Anything else is usually rocked whiskey, whiskey sour, and whiskey cola. Once in a while, Faygo and vodka Yay Alcohol!

As I am drinking a nice big bottle of this beer, I'm surprised it only scored an 88 on Beer Advocate. It tastes like a 94% to me! Heavy Seas, Big DIPA http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/898/93114/

Batch 19 is my favorite beer, don't know wine.

I prefer brandy, specifically the clear brandy with a hint of peach!

I like Belgian Wheat Beers. Blue Moon, Shock Top and the like. A stout like Guinness is good every once in a while. Sam Adams Winter Lager and their other stuff is good too. I'm drinking a Belgian White by a Brewery called Woody Creek as I type this and it ain't bad.

I can't stand IPA's but I know how popular they are. I see many of you have them listed. The hops just dominate the flavor too much for me.

Can anyone recommend an IPA that isn't so strong? I've heard the English IPA's are less harsh then American ones.

As for wine I favor dry reds. I went on a month long trip to southern Italy and drank their wines every day for month. Best thing ever.

Märzen, the most balanced of brews.

Pinot Noir, hillside, dry farmed R. River or Macon.

Tullamore Dew, smoother than Mobile One.

2nd string:

Guinness, there are no other stouts, especially crappy American attempts that end up closer to a doppelbock! A stout should be defined by it's lack of sugar dammit!

As mentioned above, a nice Red Rhone Blend, lotsa Syrah.

Any good SBL in summer.

Jose Cuervo and "Blue", hey can't be a Som all the time...

American brewers are over-manipulating their beers, just like wineries did in the 90's, they loose their varietal style and soul. The more traditional way's will return and prevail. Look at New Zealand SBL's everyone want's to call their's a New Zealand style when the reason it's so interesting (don't tell your geeky friends) is that it's really a traditional Loir Style

Don't get me wrong, they are doing good stuff, but the race for the strongest. over the top IPA is still on.
And seriously, do we need stronger IPA's, they were made to be cheap, transportable without refrigeration, soldiers brew, back when the sun never set.

I like it when drunk drink "Fireball" 'cause at lest they have nice breath.
Don't drink and drive, ever!

Don't even putt.

The term likely dates back to the late 19th century when fresh beer was carried from the local pub to one's home by means of a small galvanized pail. It is claimed the sound that the CO2 made when it escaped from the lid as the beer sloshed around sounded like a growl.[7]

told the bartender last night to "pick a beer any beer" since I didn't feel like choosing one as the selection was too good.

got one of these

and it was amazingly good, a very hoppy beer with a great aftertaste.

Well yes! As is visiting breweries, brew fests, keeping track of the beers I like most, rating and reviewing beers and talking about beer with fellow beer snobs, and drinking home brew. I even make magnets out of beer caps when I try new ones.

So yeah. In general, craft beer is my hobby.

No, only Stone's variation of it (which I loved)! I haven't seen Ballast Point's here yet.

Fav fall beers?
Pumking - Southern Tier
Pumpkin Patch - (drawing a blank on the brewery)

I just finished a big bottle of Pumking to celebrate making it through Monday with a smile.

And guess who lives in Beer City USA

By the way, I am a non-alcohol guy. I'd drink a non-alcoholic one once in a while. O'Douls or St. Pauli is pretty good.
