Warning about using volar chains...

So yea i tried this green volar chain... on a 2000mile trip it snapped... wasn't using clip, but used the secure pin system, and a mechanic inspected the chain and said it wasn't a mounting error, but a result from bad quality. the chain was about 2500 miles old when it broke, thank god no major damage to the bike..

My friend was behind me on his 250, it was very close that he had got it into his front tire, but nothing happen

I'm sticking with EK or DID rest of my life from now on...

The chain has been perfectly mainted... scottoiler E-system with perfect mounting, and the recommended slack on the chain.. No excuses, Volar is a very bad chain.

Today i got the chain on my wall as a memory from the time were i 800miles from home, meet a very nice german guy who helped me out, and got me a new chain (EK).

A few people have used them with problems as well.

EK does but DID only has gold, black, and silver.

Never heard of Volar chain. Where do you get such a chain?

I stick with D.I.D., EK, RK, and Regina for chains. I haven't tried Vortex's V3 chains yet though.

probably ebay...

the problem with cheap chains is the cheap materials and manufacturing methods.

pics of ruined chain?

IIRC the chain from Cycle Gear...I believe the brand is called Orbitz should be decent. I believe it's actually made in the same factory as RK. I remember installing it on my friend's R6 used primarily for track and it's still on there after 2+ years.

I'll never understand why people cheap out on chains. I'm cheap as hell + I don't make much money but if you cheap out on a chain then you're just compromising your safety. Saving $50 is not worth risking your life.

Did it fail at the master link? Who installed it? It sounds like you were using the rivet link. Were the rivet heads properly peened and the flare measured? What tool was used?

ive had a volar chain, and it didnt last very long. The life span was about 12k which is pretty bad for me. most other chains on the 250 will last about 40k for me.
