New slip on

I went with a red Musarri.

Really can't complain for $179 AUD as I dinged up my M4 one during a low side a few months ago

Looks awesome at that zoom level.

I'm looking at that warm and dry pavement also visible in the picture and feeling jealousy. Maybe I should move to Aus.

I have mussari slip on, On my 2nd one, had one on my newgen and my 300.

For the price you cannot complain. I got my first one for about $200 and the carbon fiber one for $250. The slip ons don't really make the bike run too lean either. You definitely don't have to tune it, although it wouldn't be a bad idea. One things for sure, they do weigh a LOT less, and make the bike look a ton better.

I will be doing a needle/jet kit because it surges with the choke on, and the revs hang around 3k-4k rpm with no choke once warmed up

Same company makes a set of sweet carbon fiber ones

How you you rate sound compared to the OEM muffler?

OEM is too quiet, heavy, and large. I only used it to pass a "safety" inspection for registration

How does it sound? How much louder? What's the tone, higher, lower etc...?

You'd be most welcome.

The best thing about summer here aside from riding... beach babes galore!

Also a vid of the exhaust sound, the mic isn't great quality though... mono 22khz

Has a nice throaty sound to it, I've heard other ones that makes the bike sound like a pissed off weed wacker

I'm guessing the dual ones for the pre 08' might sound nice.

My FI 250R has a little dial tucked inside the vent on left side of the fairing. You can turn it to adjust the idle rpm. Maybe the carb 250R has this dial too?

Ha ha. I like that. Pissed off weed wacker.

250R races often sound like a swarm of angry bees.

I much prefer the sound of my 250R now it has an Area P exhaust: especially the low rpm ( less than 5k ) sound.

It's not the idle adjuster on the left, I'm always tweaking that with the temperature changes. With full choke, the bike surges to almost 6K RPM on its own. Not good at all.

With little or no choke, if you blip the throttle, it goes down and starts to hang at 4k RPM, then slowly drops down to normal. By slowly I mean it takes longer to drop from 4k rpm than from redline/high revs to 4k rpm.

In any gear, if I back off the throttle and coast, the revs stick at 3-4k rpm until I pull the clutch in. The revs stick for a second or so and drop.

The low-mid range is lean for emissions testing purposes. Upon thinking, rejet/new needles is a must for new carb bikes!

I actually have a very similar problem, but it's probably got a different cause. In the morning when I'm commuting to work, I slowly roll down my street while the bike warms up; at that point the revs wont go below 4k, so I don't actually have to touch the throttle. It just pulls itself along. I have to stop at a T-junction at the end of the street. I pull in the clutch at that junction and my revs then go up to 6K and sit their while the clutch is disengaged. At which point everyone on the street stares at me with a WTF expression as my bike is roaring while I'm at a standstill

Your bike looks really awesome btw. It's a bit like a 2fiddy version of Mordeth 13's bike:
