Helicopters are not that fast. As one blade/wing goes forward it lifts . The blade going backward looses lift as the forward speed increases. At some point around 120mph or so the helicopter starts to roll toward the retreating blade.

The retreating blade at high enough forward velocity starts to stall and create turbulence. The advancing blade as it approaches and then exceeds (IIRC typically the tips of the advancing blades) the speed of sound creates a lot of drag and loses lift.

Considering the helicopter shooting that video was likely a Bell 206 as is most camera platforms, police helis, etc....

Top speed for the heli is 122mph in ideal conditions.
Top speed for the bike is 179mph in ideal conditions.

Not much of a contest.

I may be wrong but I dont think NinjaMunky85 was really talking about how fast or slow a helicopter can go ...I think he was just saying that this dude was hauling MAJOR @$$ and has COJONES (balls) the size of elephants ...thanks for sharing NinjaMunky!!! It was cool!!!

The balls and skill of TT riders is off the chart. And Guy is also super smooth. But the thing that impressed me the most is how NOT crazy the riders are. The mental ability to stay focused around a 37 mile track is also super human.

@vman1313 I'm glad someone got it. Obviously the vid isn't about how fast a helicopter can go. He didn't even really out run it.

@Jono Ooops I din't even think to check if this had been posted before. Oh well, if anyone missed it before maybe they'll see it this time. I know I could watch videos like this all day.

Another cool vid Whiskey. I would love to see one of these races in person some day. Racing at a racetrack with sand traps and padded walls is one think, but racing on normal roads with trees, and stone walls right next to you, and then the bumps and jumps. It's just insane and totally awsome.
