How bout this, even though it didn't make the list.

When the race track in Sparta is filled to capacity, it's the 3rd largest city in KY. lol Now if they would just open the bike track just a few miles away, life would be perfect.

Sadly no, it's KY... so it obviously it must be Nascar. They could have built a road course in the infield but that would mean us hillbillies would fall and hit our heads on the tarmac after too many beers at the Tim Mcgraw concert. FML

In true KY style, they built the Bluegrass track just a few miles away for X millions and then let it rot.

KY is cool! I do work there for my part-time job there in Hebron and Georgetown every year. I always enjoy the great BBQ, whiskey and wonderful people. As an avid 2nd Amendment rights supporter it is like going to heaven. I rode there in the summer of 2012 and it was a very memorable trip.

I'd love to meet you brother! Hebron looks like we'll be there in sometime in April or May, Georgetown is usually in July. I'll send you a PM as the time approaches.

^^^ Looking forward to it.

KY has always represented well on the grid. Jake Lewis, Roger Hayden, Tommy Hayden, Hayden Gillim, Nicky Hayden (MotoGP)

I smell a trend here, especially if you have Hayden in your name.

Little known facts

"Happy Birthday to You", probably the most sung song in the world, was written by two Louisville, KY sisters - Mildred and Patricia Hill.

Chevrolet Corvettes are manufactured only in Bowling Green, KY. More proof of our pursuit of going fast.

Post-It Notes are made exclusively in Cynthiana, KY (22 miles from my home) and I have family that works there.

In the War of 1812 more than half of all Americans killed in action were Kentuckians.

Muhammed Ali, The Greatest and most recognized face in the world was born in Louisville, KY. After this, nothing needs to be added to this thread as proof. lol

No mention of Daniel Boone? How about the beautiful women (at least the ones that still have teeth) or The Derby?

Good point!

KY, home of unique hats; Daniel Boone and the Derby (lol)
Speaking of The Derby, where else do the fastest horses on earth? And again, if it runs... it must be raced. hahahahahahah
Home of leaders, the during the Civil War, both presidents (Union - Abraham Lincoln & Confederate - Jefferson Davis) where Kentuckians

Daisy Dukes still has no equal

Phillip Allen Sharp (June 6, 1944- ) – Nobel Prize winner for the discovery of split genes and for advancing research on cancer and hereditary diseases, 1993. Born in Falmouth. (One of my family members /scoff - and they say rednecks from KY are dumb)

We sometimes talk like pirates. Johnny Depp was really good at it and we all watched it on the big screen. He is also the highest paid actor, take that Hollywood!

January 6, 1920 - Kentucky ratifies the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, giving women the power of the vote and forever solidified the right of women to speak their minds. We have regretted it ever since.

1921 - In 1921 the law passed making it legal for women to serve on juries. Since then, we have been the toughest on deadbeat dads. It's a straight up felony to not take care of your kids here.

Speaking of the ladies.... Don't mess with KY women.
1936 - The last legal public hanging in Kentucky took place August 14, 1936 in Owensboro. Florence Thompson was the first female sheriff in Davis County History. She was in charge of Kentucky's last legal hanging. (1936 aint really that long ago in the grand scale of things. ijs. )

The hanging part got me digging a bit deeper. On the roof of the Falmouth KY jail, they kept the rack and hangman's noose preserved for public display until 2002. Think about that....

Don't mess with breakfast. It's serious bizznass.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-11274481

And... the guy up the road a ways from my house burned his wife. Over what you say? Breakfast, his bacon wasn't right. He poured gas on his wife and lit her up. He is currently a man ho in eastern ky prison, 65yrs of payback. This didn't make the news but for a little blip.

I remember my great grandfather talking about that area and how not even many rednecks from KY have been there or know about it for that matter. He often wondered what the quakes might have shaken up just beneath that ground.

I never realized that my favorite whiskey (makers mark) was made in KY
every state has the stuff they're doing right or wrong. after informing myself about KY I'd say that CO, KY, ME, GA are doing a lot right though most wouldn't think that KY is at first glance.

I recently watched a Smithsonian Aerial America episode of Kentucky. I now know why it is called the Bluegrass state. I never knew it was actually part of America.
