39* tripster fantastic

Took my first real trip on the Baby Ninja. 50 miles on I5 each way. Rode down yesterday morning. Rode back this morning in 39 degree weather. I had 7 layers on top, 5 layers on the bottom. Silk gloves under my leather gloves.

I also had those stupid looking handle bar muffs you've seen on cruisers in cold weather. They actually do a respectable job keeping the wind off your hands. I'm not sure it's a good solution long-term. Getting your hand back in the damn thing while doing 70 is a challenge. One that made me wet myself, frankly. Once I got used to it it was ok. But that first time had me weaving all over my lane trying to find the entry hole. (Mentally insert inappropriate comment here).

It got warmer as I traveled north, but then it started raining. No problems. Used mostly rear brake on the wet stuff (when I remembered to, that is )

Slowly but surely feeling more and more comfortable. Which scares me.

Yeah, I was never a fan of those things. Honestly, I would have been 100% perfectly fine if I could have put on a dirt bike hand guard my old 250. Just enough to block the main wind from the fingers...that is all I would have needed.

Well done!

Never confuse confidence with fear. Confidence will save you in a time of need, fear will get you hurt.

Yeah. I do get that. I need a certain level of what I would call skeptical confidence.

Wow! I should take that on the road! Skeptical Confidence: A Strategy For Motorcycling and Life in Good Times And Bad. $299 per person. Except Ninjette.org peeps. They pay $350 to make up for the fact that I will have to listen to all the 'I crashed my Baby Ninja so I had to buy an R6' bs.

Skeptical Confidence! lol I like it. You sound like me. For me confidence and trust is an inch game. I take an inch the bike gives and inch and so on.

Sign me up though. I will be your opening act!

Ok. You're in. 70/30 split. My idea.
