If your coming for the gathering there are a few things you should know if you have not been here before.

These may seem simple but they are good to keep in mind.
-Stay in your lane
-Go through slowly the first time.

-If you can get here on Thursday or Friday it will be less busy.
-Don't be complacent going down the hill on either side. Once you pass the overlook there are still sharp curves ahead before you reach the bottom. The same is true once you hit NC and head down to Deal's Gap.
-Stay in your lane -yes, I said it twice.
-Drink lots of water.

Last year, my friends were coming back towards maryville, and there was wreckage and skidmarks going off the road at 5:25.... Be careful everyone, you go over and it is a loonnng way down

Watch the video, there is an unlisted safety tip.

Watch how oroboros corners near the outside of the lane. This gives him 2 things; a margin of safety in case someone crosses the DY and extra road to increase lean to tighten corner for whatever reason. Be careful riding like this though, you don't have alot of room if you go wide. A nice defensive riding technique none the less.

Rode with the Ninja 250 riders today on the Dragon. Had my Miata on the Dragon before, but was the first day on two wheels. Great ride with no rain during the morning ride.

We rode the Dragon out & back to Deals Gap this morning with out having real traffic delays either

. Most vehicles would pull off the road and wave us by.

DaBlue1, bosgarage57, livewire, and momaru were riding this morning. Oroboros was going to arrive later this afternoon after I headed back home.

The White Pregen is livewire's. It's a "really" nice bike.

Looked in a room at Deals Gap Motorcycle resort, very clean and $59 per night.

HorizonXP, nice shot!!

My wife & I will probably stay there in during the fall or spring.

was there for 3 hours today and I only saw one 250, and he was making an ass of himself by passing on a blind curve and then getting pulled over for it

Sorry we missed you. I was on the hill at 8:30 this morning. We had 5 bikes together at DGMR for a while. Around 11:00 we we headed out for a group ride.

Actually there were three of us in the group on blues this weekend. It wasn't me (or if it was, I also don't remember the blow to the head...), and I think I can reasonably say it wasn't DaBlue1 or NoVA either, so not from our group. Killboy has shots up of a blue '09 being ridden by a squid, wonder if it was him.

I think I saw you coming the other way Mark, didn't react fast enough to give ya a proper hello though.

To all those that didn't make it, you missed a helluva lot of fun.

Was a great pleasure to put a face & a voice to some of the folks on here though.

Lucas, I think that night run is permanently etched in my brain.

I can't say enough good things about the BagsConnection Cargo bag (on the tail in my pic above). Pretty sure Spooph is getting one real soon here, after a his little 'flaming saddle bag' incident on the way down.
The first day (Thurs for me & Lucas) I was taking it easy, learning the Dragon and not sure how the tail bag would affect things. Even filled to about 90% capacity, the bag never budged all weekend, through ~6 Dragon runs. Before I left Blacksburg, I bumped the rear suspension preload up one notch. After the first run, I completely forgot it was there. Almost weird going back through the photos from Saturday which were mostly spirited runs and realizing "oh yeah, I had luggage"

It was an absolute hoot! So glad I went. Those who missed missed a spectacular time! I gotta say, 250 people are the best kind of people. No worries and no fear. Thanks a bunch to DaBlue and Oroboros for making all of this happen. If somebody else was involved which I do not know, thank you as well. An absolute joy! The Dragon was built specially for the 250, no other way around it.... Next year we do it in Colorado?

That was the first group ride of the day on the Dragon Friday 8/5. The riders are DaBlue, bosgarage57, livewire, momaru, and me.

The Dragon is loads of fun. Will go back again this year before winter!

I've got about 250 photos from that I need to post, as well as get around to writing up my report (been a very eventful month, haven't had the energy to really write yet). Also need to get in touch with the other guys that went and see if I can get a group photo/video collection going somewhere.

Was a helluva lot of fun though. I literally spent this morning looking for other good twisty roads (that I don't already know about & frequent) near me to scratch the itch that the Dragon got going.
