Opinions on a gold chain

hey guys,

i think my bike could use a new chain. I've got 30,000kms on it now and as much as i try to clean and lube the chain, it still squeaks and it looks like the grease that comes out of it has a little tinge of red (making me think that there's rust on the inside of it).

I found this chain online for a great price...

http://www.d2moto.com/p-8289-520-o-r...inks-gold.aspx

will this work on our bikes? I am 90% sure that it will but i just wanted to know what you thought before i order it. It has 116 links but the extras can be take out, right? Again, i think i know a little about what i'm talking about (only from researching online) but hoping you guys can confirm what i think i know.

Thanks!
Joe

D2moto chains aren't the best. I think CZroe has gone thru a couple of them. They're cheap, but can create a lot of headaches in the long run. Get a DID chain or something similar and save yourself some grief.

Bringing this old-ish thread back. What is the cheapest price for a reputable chain and sprocket in gold? Is it cheaper to get the package deals or buy everything separately?

buy high quality chains. DID and RK chains are good. you will never regret buying a quality chain. dont forget sprockets wear out about as quick as chains so replace your front and rear sprockets at the same time.

idk how many links the new-gen chain needs, but here's some shopping results.

also, keep me in mind if you get an RK gold XSO520 chain! I've got a gold rivet-type master link for an RK Gold XSO 520 chain

That's what I had originally and now on my other 250. It's a very strong chain (may outlast the bike ) but it's also very heavy.

I got mine my SuperBikeSupply (Brad).

So is this a good chain to use? Also, is this a good price? If it matters at all, my bike is strictly for street use, no track time in the foreseeable future.

Why just ok? Why not "holy crap that is the perfect chain for what you intend to do with your bike! And the price is the lowest I have seen as well!"?

P.S.- Check your FS thread

I heard you the first time. No need to repeat yourself.

It's just okay because it's not a DID.

I have no idea what you're talking about… I only posted that message one time! I most certainly did NOT delete my post!

Back on track, do you have experience with both brands? Not trying to be an , just want some non-biased opinions.
