Hard to watch but this is the reality of being on 2 wheels
This is the sad reality of motorcycling. For every unaware, distracted and skittish driver, there is an unaware, distracted and skittish motorcyclist.
We are completely vulnerable on the road but if we never lose focus, keep our eyes on the road and ANTICIPATE, many motorcycle accident can be avoided. I really hope everyone in this video walked away alive |

Couple lessons to take away from only a couple minutes of watching:
There are tons of those crash compilations on YouTube. Most of the time you can see something the rider could have done differently. Hopefully they all survived...though I have my doubts about the train one. |

My general rule of thumb is to ride so that I can do it again tomorrow. I just don't understand why one would put themselves in these situations. Granted some serious and fatal motorcycle accidents are at no fault of the rider, we are vulnerable enough out there and need to protect ourselves the best we can!
I hate seeing riders go down

About 95% of those were avoidable, maybe more.

You can learn a lot from watching crash videos. I feel I have a strange, morbid curiosity every time I come across one.
Hope you're well Kate, let's ride soon!

Crash videos should be a requirement for the permit application.

It's sad because even though some of these are the car driver's fault for not looking, many of them were due to the motorcyclist not anticipating a car turning or changing lanes and some were just due to a lack of skill when turning or breaking. They were mostly avoidable and watching things like this, morbid as it is, helps me become a better rider because I can look at what I would do differently. Thanks for sharing it!

Rnickeymouse is one of my fav to watch. Someone should do something similar for the Dragon here in the east coast.
This guy also puts out good stuff from Taiwan. Sometimes he goes a little too crazy with the edits, but the message of ATGATT can't be any clearer as he shows their injuries.

Crash videos should be a requirement for the permit application .....Josh makes an excellent suggestion that any state can add to their online app process....simple as adding a link.

I seem to see a trend. High speed . Lack of gear. Scooters(people no taking 40mph on two wheels seriously. And passengers .
Then I see to many people improperly lane splitting. Passing lines of cars on the right . Then the guy flying through traffic. Only to be passed by a crash victim. The other two are tail ended and I think one in the rain.

I also tend to watch a lot of crash compilations to find helpful takeaways for safety. The main one, that seems obvious, is don't rocket into a space you're not 100% is clear. Also, and this is especially true the heavier the traffic, there is generally a reason why a large gap opens up in traffic.

Most of those videos are from Russia, the place with huge percent of drivers/riders under influence and where traffic laws are ignored in general. I can't agree more that most of these accidents could have been avoided quite easily.
