Found a little something on my helmet

I leave my helmet locked to my bike when i head to class and today when i came back to it, someone had put a little smiley sticker on it. Should i be worried that maybe people have been touching my stuff while im not there? Or maybe someone just had a sticker and decided to try to be funny. Ive been going there for 2 years and never had something like this happen before

Two years is enough time to generate some interest from someone.

Maybe she/he is just shy.

There's no evidence to suggest sinister intention. Just someone with some free time and some happy stickers! I doubt they meant any harm.

I do get concerned about people playing with my bike when I leave it somewhere public. I normally give it a visual inspection after leaving it in town. I check the tyres, check nothing has been stuffed in a crevis and check none of the exposed wires have been pulled/cut. A girl at work has had a brake line on her motorcycle cut when she left it in town. We don't even live in a dodgy city.

Personally I don't leave my helmet locked with my bike. I don't like the idea that it could be damaged without me realising in my abscence. There's also a story or two on this forum of people having nasty/sticky things put on/in their helmet... drinks etc. I have a fancy, expensive Nexx helmet now so I'm even less likely to leave it somewhere!

This one:

Picture or it never happened... Mouahahahahahahahahahahahah...

Might be a "Peace and Love Gal" saving the world one smiley at a time...

I would have been touched by the "gesture", depending on how easy I could remove that smiley...

I seriously doubt any ill harm was meant. Buuuut I would never leave my helmet anywhere because....well I dunno, my helmet is just really important to me I guess...like my wallet or something. I wouldn't worry about it though

My bike was filthy when I arrived in San Diego early Christmas Eve morning in 2008. I had just finished crossing the country and was exhausted, so I locked it to my sister's car and went to sleep.

The next morning I found that someone had used their finger to spell "hell" in the crud on my windscreen. I still wonder if they were trying to say "hello" and ran out of room.

Maybe it was just a fellow motorcyclist saying hi.

Personally, I would never touch another rider's motorcycle or gear without permission, but maybe this was a person with a poor understanding of personal boundaries.

That is really crappy. People think stuff is funny, don't touch my stuff. Don't touch my hair, don't touch me.

People used to ask if they could touch my fro - my answer "can I grab your boobs?"
its personal space. respect it.

if you went and drew smiley faces on peoples cars with that dealer ship paint marker… people would flip a freaking ****.

Don't leave your helmet out. This innocuous smiley sticker post reminded me of a few times people disrespected my stuff.

I am aggravated now….

I had someone at my job go around putting 2 cent stamps on everyone's car.

mine was on my gas door (i have a pic someplace), it was odd but i know it was meant to be funny.

I don't leave my helmet on the bike very often but i would still feel a little weird about someone touching my bike or helmet... Car I don't care so much.

When you work hard to spend thousands of dollars to get something like a car or motorcycle.

You are talking serious investment.

Then you are going to mess with it when I am not around.

I think these reactions are 100% appropriate

hahah - yeah I let people ride my bike- people I trust and more often people who don't ask over people who do.

I feel fine but thanks for the offer lol.

but seriously people are so idiotic. often people who mess with other peoples stuff haven't worked for what they have so they are in some kind of ignorance.

Somebody puts a sticker on my gear I am going to write my name on their Wife's @$$ with a sharpy marker and see how funny they are then lol

Shoot how much a helmet costs , its a shame you can't park your stuff in public without people messing with it.

All those people who scratch their mark into public bathroom mirrors should be marked with a branding iron.

People just don't get it. Materials possessions don't mean anything. Money and stuff. Its the principle of the matter. Someone works hard for something, they value it and they see that in other people. Why deface or disrespect something someone else values.

I guess if some little child put a smiley on my stuff because they thought they were doing something nice…. in that case I can look deeper and see the good intentions

so I guess I can lighten up. No burning of vandals today lol

Used to be able to buy round stickers in various sizes that had a picture of a screw on them. We would stick them over the bumper stickers that would have a heart symbol, like "I heart dobermans" or the like, so now it read "I screw dobermans" we got a big kick out of it.

Personally, I would have gone with club symbols as in "I ♣ baby seals", but hilarious none the less.
