Going on a business trip.

Gotta go from Cleveland to Indianapolis next week. It's 5 hours away and I need to stay the night. Trying to decide between two wheels or four. I don't have the creature comforts for distance, such as a usb port, helmet Bluetooth, rain gear, or one of those throttle stopper things. I've gone from Philly to Cleveland and back (~9 hours) on a ninjette without any of these things, but I'm just not as squirrelly as I was then.

It's worth going to your local powersports shop and plunkin down ~$7 for a cramp buster, but other than that, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Freeway and hours equal dangerous boredom, perhaps a route that is more interesting?

I would take route 42 South (or 71... yuck) then go across on Route 40 the old "National road", screw 71/75 too many trucks and construction! It'll take you longer but you see some old school Americana and be less fatigued. Route 40 is the Mid-West "Route 66" a nice old, usually empty road. Avoid Columbus.

FYI: take I75W for a few miles to avoid going through Springfield...

Used to live in Indy and taken the Cleveland to Indy trip a few times and it is a pretty mindless and boring stretch. But an easy enough ride as well. Personally I do not take the bike on business because I normally need too much stuff.

If the weather is poor, cage it.

Otherwise.... It's all the route yo! All slab blows, take the path less traveled and make an adventure out of it. Best of all, if you fill out the expense report right, you get paid to ride.

If you've tackled Philly to Cleveland on two wheels, Cleveland to Indy should be a breeze. Go for the freedom of two wheels, soak in the scenery, and let the wind be your playlist.
