Who's still rocking the stock Roadwinner IRC tires?
So who's still rocking the stock tires? Share your thoughts on them.
I've already put over 4k miles on mine and the rear has started to square off. The front is still round and both tires still have a good amount of life left. They are serving me well commuting to and from work. The reason I'm not jumping on the bandwagon to change these tires out is they are doing just fine for me and for what I need. I don't see any safety concerns with these tires for day to day riding so far. There are not many twisties here in Texas besides the track but for the amount we have so far the tires have handle themselves well. Only issues going full or near full lean are just the peg feelers and kickstand mount getting in the way.

3K+ miles on them, very happy. They are very nice, for both commutting and knee dragging. Serious racers may be better served by other brands, but for 95% of people here these tires are more than enough.
However, you should replace sportbike tires every two years or so. |

Had mine for a little over 2500 miles. Then I got a nail in the rear tire and decided to upgrade. While I had them they were just fine though.

6300, still running, still have tread left, but planning on changing them soonish.
I haven't ridden a 250 with any other brands before so I don't really have a comparison, but the IRCs work, they've slipped a little in the twisties but for the most part they hold up fine and dandy for commuting purposes. |

3k+ on mine been seeing the squaring start since about 2k on them. They do just fine as others said for daily driving. As for the twisities, they did fine for me on the Dragon, but I do not push them or the bike to any sort of limits.
The pirelli's I had on the pre-gen had a much better feel to them when riding the bike, so I will be changing soon to something I can push a bit better with. |

In reality for me, they were fine. They slipped on me one time, but that was enough to cause me to lose all confidence in them.

8k on the Front. The rear I had to replace at 3.8K, it was so flat it stands up on its own. The guy before me was apparently a heavyset feller, and rode with his girlfriend.

I had about 9500 miles on my original tires. I had a significant flat spot along the center from all the long distance rides I've been doing. I finally changed it out a few days ago for the BT45. I thought about keeping it simple and going with the same tire, but the BT45 and it's dual compound setup was only a few bucks more than the roadwinners, as in $4 more. And since I do a lot of straight riding, it made sense to me. I wasn't trying to jump on any bandwagon. I know my requirements, and a dual compound tire fits. The Roadwinners did fine by me as far as I can tell for normal riding. Had no complaints. But I'm more of a sport touring rider.

Almost 10,000 miles; the front has plenty of tread but the rear tire has almost no tread left in the center; The sides still have 75% or so. The po did nothing but commute; I've done a mix of commuting and tearing up the twisties . Never had a major problem with them but I feel like new tires would definitely allow me to be more confident while riding.

So far they have been ok. Have had the rear slip a few times so far but not sure if to blame the tire or the craps roads.
I am looking at other options but probably not going to buy anything until next year. |

today will be the 10,000th mile on the stock IRC tires, they're pretty low in the middle. I am going to replace them at the beginning of next season because college starts officially in 2 weeks and I am not going to be riding at all.

I still have the IRC's on mine with just under 3k on them. I have found them to be just fine at more than spirited pace and even with some wet spots on the road. They are starting to square just a little even though 90% of my miles are twisties?!?!?!?!?
But do some good homework! You will find you can take em to the edge and they will hold under the right conditions. Rear set to your weight, good riding techniques, good throttle control and taking the time to warm them up. Even saying that.... I still would rather have something stickier for additional piece of mind. But I am not going to take off "good" tires just for that reason. I know that the combo of myself + IRC's work fine enough for the street, the track.... not so much.

10,000+ Going to be changed this friday for SD . My IRCs felt nice once they got alot of heat in them, they actualy were prety soft to the touch when left in the sun all day this summer. When cold there not so nice. IRCs are my first tire so dont have anything to compare them too just my observation.

Stock tires are trash. I used to talk them up all day.. then..
I lost traction on them at 50mph and hit a guard rail after trying to stop myself from death. Get rid of them. The freeway will thank you too when your bike is allowed to ride it while staying centered. lol Don't keep them because they haven't worn out. Get rid of them because you can improve the feel of your bike 10 fold when you do and there is much safer tires. If you like fighting the bike on the highway and you don't turn much, keep the stock rubbers. You'll be fine. Remember we bought this puppy as a fuel saving economy bike. It came with economy tires too. They're alright for most people but I wouldn't recommend them for sport riding. If you are jetting and piping and airboxing your bike you should have new rubber on it for sure first. Nice tires should be lasting you 3000miles max if you ride twisties and highway. Maybe 5k if they are touring tires or you don't hit twisties. Stock ones do last 7k, and this shoudl give you an idea of their hardness and not so high traction. Don't depend on them much because it will reach out and grab you. Please listen to me and upgrade the tires FIRST. Cheap insurance and much better feel. I like the BT-016 but have yet to try anything else on the 250. I was told to use these on this website and am happy I did.

No cannons here in Florida They work for my 10 mile roundtrip commute. I will replace them when the time comes. i do not doubt that there are better tires, but for commuting and the occasional spirited ride, they are great. I do plan on upgrading to the SD in about 1,500 miles or so.

But there are plenty of turns and over-passes. I have managed to wear the edges of my front Bridgstone's 016's out before the center wore out.

2) You only have two tires. You want them to be the best you can afford my friend, for they keep you from the ground and safe. I would recommend everyone swap out of those crap stock tires. When you feel the difference you will understand! "Connected" takes on a whole new meaning. It's a worth while upgrade by far. The stock tires are dangerous. (for much else than commuting)

I'm at about 4400 miles on my IRCs, bought the bike brand new back in March and started riding it mid-April.
I'm about 95% commuting on highways and the other 5% is joy rides which don't really involve much aggressive riding so I have a feeling these will last me through next summer unless I'm able to get some more riding on curvy roads. |

I had 4,500 miles on the Ninjette before I traded her in. I actually bought tires to replace the stock IRC's and then ended up getting the ZX.
The tread wasn't awful but I needed to change out the tires due to cracking in the sidewalls. I didn't want to have a tire failure, so better safe than sorry. As far as performance, yeah the tires slipped often, but what the hell, I just feel it made me a better rider. Honestly, if I don't feel a bit of tire slip, then I think something is wrong. In hindsight I am glad I had the IRC's because I had no choice but to learn how to control the tire slip at lean while riding aggressively. Grippier tires would have not allowed me to do this.

I've put in 8,600 miles and am still on the IRC's. I haven't experienced any issues with the tires and although I don't ride as crazy as the Honey Badger (Kevin2109) I do rip up the canyons (not canons) on a fairly regular basis. I've removed all but about 1/16" of an inch of the chicken strips and honestly I've scraped peg so I don't think I could go any further with them.
I do plan to upgrade the tires, however, they still have plenty of tread and haven't given me any reason to doubt them yet. I do have some "cracking" in the sidewalls though... I suppose that probably is enough to get new tires. However, I'm in a bit of a crunch for cash and will be deploying come February... so I'll probably get new tires when I come home from Afghanistan
