No particular reason. Just not paying attention, I guess.

You look reasonably competent at painting. If you get the cheap purple paint gun from harbor freight, a small compressor you can paint pretty good.
I did this Ducati using that gun with dupont yellow, nason clear. < $100 total for materials. had a coupon for the gun $9.99
Painted it in the garage just hanging up some plastic to protect from overspray. make sure you invest the $15 in a half mask filter. isocyanides in the clear.

Rattle cans ftw! Not the best lighting and it came out very very very far from perfect, but for a cheap first time attempt at painting a vehicle, it could have been worse.... Probably

So I've started tearing the bike apart. I've never worked on a bike with basically zero miles on it. It's so nice, clean... hoses and connectors come off easily

I've got all fairings off, tank off, in the process of removing the kleen air system, and looking at my hands you would never know I'd been working on a bike!

It only got to 45 on Friday and i had the day off. The traveling around I do in the military keeps me from entering, I just have fun at track days passing GSXR1000s etc.

some nice looking rides! Congrats!

I am not allowed to touch the ninjette just yet until my wife either graduates to our EX500 for the streets or we both hit the track on the 250. In the mean time, all I have for the track is the 10r. Still a fun ride .....but not a ninjette!

Here are some Pics of my Race bike. It isn't necessarily new.... i have just been too lazy to post pics haha . I painted it myself and i think it turned out okay Still have to finish the safety wire, 415 sprocket/chain swap, and swap the bridgestones out for pirellis. Should be fun.

It only took me 3 dzus fasteners on both sides of lowers to mount it up. So 6 altogether... but im not sure if that question was directed at me or not haha

@Racer x: Is that your really fast ninjette? Are those special, really light wheels? Carbon Fibre? I saw an M13 episode where he talked about getting a massive performance increase from lightweight wheels.

I hope so. I have not run it yet, so I don't know if it is fast or not.
The wheels are stock . I got a set of Vee Rubber racing slicks. 125 rear 95 front. They are lighter than stock.

other specs on the bike are the big bore pistons making it a 265cc engine. CR carbs BRT R Tis ignition system. Ceramic bearings and a custom made dual exhaust. O and a complete Wizards of Nitrous system.

The body will be a copy of a 1974 Harley Davidson 250 RR.

I will be testing at the drag strip on April 7.

crashing

Our first race was this weekend. We went and practiced last weekend and my son tossed the bike on the ground. I was sick to my stomach. I just finished paint the new fairings, new rearsets, bike was just finished.
It did look like this

then looked like this

holes in the lower, upper, bent clip on and broken brake lever. cheap chinese ebay rearset did not bend, the frame did, shifter linkage bent.

got back together in 6 days, had to borrow a brake lever from my friend Dave but got the bike together in time to win the MSRH race Sat...

@jasle: Who won the sat race? You or your son? If it was your son, then I guess he somewhat redeemed himself. Also: I can't see any frame sliders. Any reason why you don't use them?

yes it was my son. William. He did in fact redeem himself. He was practicing in the cold on road winners and pushed too hard. Picked up our dunlops Friday at the race. They stick so MUCH better I'm not sure he would have wrecked if they were on. Just couldn't get them before race day.
Frame sliders were on the list but not in the pre race budget. Putting bunch of 250 and ninja 600 parts on fleabay to go buy new sprockets and frame sliders. Next race is TWS 1mile straight...need more gearing

Honestly the Hotbodies fairings I heard were so poor actually held up decent for an 80mph low side. they just wore through quickly. I put several layers of new glass over the holes from the inside. wanna project the stator cover!
