Bikes in China
I just got back from an amazing trip to Beijing, and I thought of you guys while I was over there.
A few things I noticed: there are bicycles and motorized bikes and scooters EVERYWHERE! None of them wear protective gear, and traffic is nuts, but somehow the bikes and the cars just kinda flow together. It's kind of amazing. Very few motorcycles around, but those guys seemed way more likely to gear up. This was the first bike I saw when I was at the airport waiting to be picked up:  Just around the corner from my hotel. I wasn't kidding when I said they were everywhere:  People there will strap anything and everything to their bikes. I wasn't able to grab photos in time for some of the most impressive, so instead, here's a cute old couple riding two-up:  I got very excited the first time I saw someone on the street with any gear at all:  And on to the motorcycles:  She was chilling in an art gallery in the 798 arts district:   And finally, the best bike picture ever:  FIN. |
