Not another tire size thread!?!?? really!?

OK, I know we have approx 234,998 &½ threads on tire sizes. I've read through most of them on the quest for the tire size I want.
I'm pretty sure I want to stay with the 110 size front. I'm not trying to squeeze the fattest rear shoe on the market. But it seems if I bump up to a 140 or 150 it broadens my choices. Really wanted to toss a set of pr4 on it but smallest size is 160. So, basically I want to find a happy medium on size. Is there much difference from 140 to 150? Other than 10mm. Lol.

Yes, a stock wheel will change the profile, thus changing available max traction. That may or may not be a problem depending on how you use the tire.

Wanna 140, get a 140, wanna 150, get a 150.

IMHO a 140 is enough tire on a stock rim.

The PR3's and PR4's just aren't optimized for this bike, whether size/weight/power. You'll get better performance and life out of tires that are designed for this type of motorcycle. The world won't end if you put a 150 version of these on, but you'd be kidding yourself if you felt you were doing it for performance reasons.

I'm not wanting more performance. Bit it seemed like in a 140 or 150 there was more options for tires. I'm just not sure if the positive of more choice outweighs the negative of more weight and slower then in.

Fist of all, what do you want out of your tires?

I think for the Ninja 250, we have more than enough models, makes, and types to cover, I would say, every spectrum of uses...

Maybe 5 years ago you'd be true by saying having more option, but today, not so sure... We have bias plies, radials, race oriented, touring oriented, what more are you looking at?

Mostly commuting or weekend rides. I ride this bike harder than I do others. But I don't like getting hurt. I don't like to push the envelope. I think I may stay at 140. I really don't want to go wider than I have to for a good tire. Might need to relook at the 130 size. Tbh I just skipped them, just heard so much about not being a good variety

I ride similar to you and my 140 was a vast improvement over the 130 any day.

Thanks. I know the best thing for this bike is handling. And you lose some with a wider tire. But I don't need the edge or last bit of performance.

I had Avon RoadRiders in 110/130, I loved them a lot, did a track day with them with no problem.

I've bought some Michelin for my next set, I've wanted to keep the OEM dimensions, so I took the Michelin Pilot Power as the front one and went with the Michelin Pilot Street as the rear one.

I wanted to try radial tires, so that's why I switch from Avon to Michelin, can't wait to see If I'll see a difference.

I commute during the week and the week end I hit the country side for more twisty and scenic roads...

I had the Avon RoadRiders in stock sizes on my 500. I got the VRossi wheels and went to Pilot Powers in 110/70 and 150/60.

I didn't have any problems with the Avons per se, but I definitely prefer the feel of the Pilot Powers. Maybe I just needed to play with the pressure more, but the new tires just seem smoother.

If I were still on the stock wheels, I'd be looking at the Pilot Street Radials. They seem to handle very well, plus last a long time. https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=181591
