I can't quite say i blame the range rover driver for fleeing the first time. Sure, there was likely an accident from that motorcyclist who slammed on his brakes in front of the rover, but the retaliation from the group would likely have killed the rover driver. I'm sure he fled because of physical threats from the motorcyclists when they had him stopped.

Where he went wrong, was not staying on the highway and just calling the police, telling them the situation, and waiting for an officer to arrive. That'd have been my first move, after fleeing the life threatening situation.

just continuing to give riders a bad name. group mentality... nobody feels responsible for their own decisions.

all that said, I feel for the guy who died, and anyone who was hurt. I'm sure it was only a few who really wanted to mess with the rover driver.

The bikers were idiots, they think they rule the street. So much immarturity in those type of group rides. They need to grow up and respect all vehicles on the road.

Who do you think is at fault...?

Link to original page on YouTube.

The driver has no right to run them over like that, let alone kill one of them. But like the saying goes "you corner a wild animal, it'll bite". not to be devil's advocate, but if you're in ur car surrounded by a bunch of guys and you're outnumbered... what do u do? feels like the driver ran out of fear after hitting the first guy..

all I can say is if I was in the cage with that many guys surrounding me I would have shot the guy in the face trying to open my door....next guy smashing window with helmet...shot to the face. These are biker fags, all of them. SUV shouldn't have run over them, but if it had been me, and my family was in the car, I would kill everyone to save their lives. Maybe thats just me, but that's survival of the fittest.

P.S. these **** heads have watched Biker Boyz one to many times. suprised I didn't see one of them decked out in yellow leathers with a yellow bandana

I see these videos crop up a lot and always wonder why the car/truck doesn't make a beeline for the police or fire station or hospital. Right or wrong, these videos usually show one vehicle surrounded by dozens/hundreds of bikes and rarely ends well for the driver. Mob mentality has taken over by that point, so it seems to me the safest bet is get some place the mob won't attack as quickly as possible. Then sort out what happened and handle accordingly.

This, of course, from an arm chair observer who isn't in the grip of the panic flight and can sit back and analyze the events.

I was just about to post this video, as well.

If you watch the beginning, guy hits the white CBR. I guess he could have been polite and asked for insurance information and been done with it, but you can see him make a violent move; I think he punched the side mirror out. But he is walking away as the guy starts running people down.... he deserved to get yanked out of the car.

The driver is apparently not in a coma since they have statements from him regarding why he took off. Have to say, whether they be harley riders or sport bikers, these rallies that attract large numbers of riders seem to bring the wrong sort of atmosphere with them. I don't see riders, I see a bunch of thugs.

id say this argument is a little off..

the biker originally got in front of the RR and slowed down on purpose, causing the RR to clip the rear tire, then they all stopped. Now what you'd do is try to talk to the guy(s) explaining why that happened. I highly doubt anything bad would have happened if the RR decided to stay put..what pissed them the **** off is watching their friends being run over. All the bikers did was stop, i couldnt see anyone approaching the window or vehicle in an aggressive manner up until he ran em all over. So really..he brought it upon himself.

Nah, you can see someone yanking on the door or punching the side mirror off; theres action in the camera's view, plus apparently on the other side people were yelling and/or messing with his truck, so he took off.

News reports are saying after the initial bump/brake check, the riders started damaging the vehicle including "slashing a tire". Driver takes off until slowed by deflating tire, when i suppose is where the rider gets off the bike and opens the door, causing the second flee until stopped by traffic. Speculation here.

News is reporting no fatalities and only injuries are the lacerations on the driver.

Without seeing the true beginning of the video, i side with the driver. That was clearly a brake check in the video.

Don't know if this was pointed out yet but:

"An NYPD spokesman told MailOnline the Lien was taken to hospital and treated for lacerations to his face and body.
He said there were no other injuries reported from the incident."

and

"The video was posted by a biker, under the name GIXXARDR on Liveleaks, from Melbourne, Australia, this morning.
He claims one biker was killed, which the police said was not true."

so no one was killed.

I would have plowed through them as well especially if i had people i was responsible for in the car.

From personal experience, because he was trying to leave what he felt was a dangerous situation and they pursued him to continue the confrontation some of the bikers will likely be charged with aggravated assault (aggravated as opposed to just assault becuase of injuries). It's unlikely the RR driver will be charged with anything.

I'm very curious as to what was happening, say, 10 mins prior to the start of the video

Scary video. It sends shivers down my spine.

My thoughts are based on only partial info (the mail article and the video). With that considered, I can really empathise with the driver of the 4x4. The terror he must have felt after first being surrounded so closely by those vulnerable riders on that fast road and then after the brake check, collision, the response of the bikers. I think I'd have escaped in the same way he did. If I was cornered by a group like that and some of them started aggressing against me, I'd have to consider the immediate danger to myself and the people in the car with me. I'd have to escape.

As for the bikers that got hurt. I'm not in a position to say what they do or don't deserve, but I can say that I'd never ride with a group of morons like that and in the unlikely event I did find myself in a group that started attacking someone, I'd get as far away from it as I could. I hope none of the bikers in the initial 4x4 escape got seriously hurt.

I think your comments @NevadaWolf are very sane and sober. I had the same thought as you about driving to a police station. That or call the police and stay on the motorway.

I can't blame the 4x4 driver for any of his actions. That was a horrible situation to be in.

Thankfully, I feel it's very unlikely that, that kind of event could occur in the south of England where I live. There isn't that kind of bike culture anywhere around here. I really hope that none of you ninjetters have anything like this happen to you in the states.

As for how this makes bikers look. I'm beyond caring about that ****. If anyone is dumb enough to associate a gang of people like that with bikers in general then I doubt they've got the free mental capacity to form a coherent sentence.

You know, we all get a chuckle out of the numerous videos coming out of Russia on the crazy things that happens on their roads. But with the incidents of road rage seemingly escalating (or at least gaining more exposure) it seems the Russians have it right by having a dash cam on every drive.

I really need to get that little cam under my headlights to record from the moment i start the bike to the moment I park and turn it off.

Me too. I might make it a winter project. Ideally I'd like mine to be fully automated so I don't have to think about it.

endanger my family and Ill **** you up. The reports say they slashed his tires. Im in an SUV. I would have probably tried to make it to a police station though before I started PLOWING bikes. But If they tried **** like that to mee ohhhh boy. There very well could have been some body bags. Not mine either. I know people like to talk tough, but there is nothing like your family being endangered. I understand that dudes logic. Idiots like these bikers give us all a bad name. If anything we need to flame them.

These bikers and squids give us all a bad name. There's a place for all that stunting and craziness and it ain't on the long island expressway. I saw the cbr pass the RR in the same lane, then slow in front of him. Of course the RR hit the rear tire.... the cbr was begging for it to happen. We can't see what happened in that first instant, but I can guess the CBR wasn't asking to see the cute baby in the back seat and swap recipies. I can bet there were words exchanged and a couple of guys chimed in. If I had no weapon in the car and several guys who had just surrounded me and caused a rearender, I think I would have floored it too.... for the safety of my wife and kid. We can all armchair quarterback, but you just don't know what's going thru a person's mind when in these circumstances.

At the 2nd stop, a biker actually opens the driver's door and the RR speeds off again.

I like how the person posting the video framed it... cut in at a time to not make the bikers look bad and cut out when the really "good" stuff started at the end.

As I said, if it were me, I'll be damned if I'd sit by while 100 guys lynched me and left my wife and infant in the same danger I was in. When seconds count the cops are minutes away.

I've often looked with disdain at these "events"... one I saw video of in TX where they shut down the interstate so someone could propose to his g/f and another where folks just did doughnuts in the road. Bikes behaving this way are a public nuisance plain and simple.

It's all about the curves. If you ride, you understand. If you have a stick skinny g/f and ride, you're 1/2 way there.

I'm pretending this is a poll thread. I vote that..

I'd plow over the bikers too.

Yeah I heard it was going to be high profile w the law

This is even more messed up than I expected

Thanks for all the negative publicity on bikers

Next time let the SUV pass and he will go to prison for felony hit and run plus assault.

This time he can totally be in fear for his family's lives

ALSO NOTE: not one motorcyclist tried to diffuse the situation or intervene. But I am guessing the only level headed people didn't begin pursuit.
