GB Area P Exhaust installed!

WELL, the Group buy we done on the area P's with Kerry came in today. I purchased 2 of them, just now got 1 installed. Took abouttttttt 6 hours for me and dad to do. Over much cussing and fighting (I wanted to cut the battery box and he did not). I'll get pics up of it tomorrow.

I have a question though. I want to retain my center stand, but now its up to high, pretty darn close of rubbing the chain. Has anyone done anything to remedy this? (btw, only got to hear it run, havent road it yet, but it sounds goooood. I wish I woulda took the baffles out, but might later one.

Contact Area P they sell a bracket with a bump stop that allows you to retain the center stand. When I installed the Area P on my bike I removed the center stand and keep it stored for when I was the bike or do maintenance.

Thanks snake, I will email him right now. Didnt know I'd need a bracket to keep it. Wonder if it'll be ok to leave it on it while I wait on the bracket? I guess I'll check first to see if its gonna actually rub the chain while riding.

If the center stand is rubbing while up then I would take it off until you put the bracket on.

Great job Lucas. The Area P looks great on your bike. The next thing you need to do is shave that tail. Who cares if it took 6 hrs be proud that you did it yourself.

Its not hard to take off, but to put on I'd suggest pulling the mufflers off and putting the centerstand on then putting the mufflers back on. Did you get an area p exhaust too? If so Kerry @ Area P said he MIGHT have some brackets to accomodate the center stand. I miss mine already and its only been off for a couple days. I prefer to put it on centerstand when I park it in the garage.

Question on installing the headers. Do you reuse anything from the stock system? See this pic

Do I need to install those along with the shims onto the area p header pipes?

Hi Chris,

Those are the oem exhaust flanges you have pictured. You do not reuse those (or anything else for that matter...) Your new Area P exhaust comes with stainless steel collars and flanges already installed onto the headpipe for you.

no I didn't get the area p. wish I had but thanks for the advice. I have rearset adjusters and want to make sure the center stand doesn't hit the ground
