Gear Shifter Bent?

Hi Guys,

I happened to look at my gear lever closely today and noticed that it definitely looks bent in. I don't know how it took me this long to notice it. The day I dropped it was the first day I got it, many months ago. Practicing U-turns and hit the break with the wheel turned (learned my lesson) It was one of those slowly carry it down drops because there wasn't even a scratch on it. I never thought to look at the shift lever though.

Now to the point. This is what it looks like. Can anyone show me a picture from the same top angle of their lever please? Every picture I keep finding of it on bikes shows it from the side, so I can't tell how off I am. Thanks!

Here you go. Bend it back slowly.

I had the same thing happen to me when I first started riding. Mine was so bent it touched the shift link rod thingy...What I did was go to a metal works store and they bent it back for free It's a PITA to bend back, so if you don't have the tools, do as I did. good luck.

It's bent in the area between the shaft and the first bend. Clamp a crescent wrench on the bent area, clamp another crescent wrench onto the first, and twist, it'll bend right back out. The shifter arm is just mild steel, super easy to straighten.

Wow, I didn't realize it was THAT bent! I don't know how I rode it for months without noticing. Thanks for the help guys. I'll have to get tools once I go home for spring break tomorrow. I'll have it fixed once I'm back.
