Turn Signals Crazy After Fender Delete
Hello everybody. First post here. Thanks for the help in advance.
I just bought a 2004 EX250 and am in the process of fixing up a few little issues. Today, I added a fender delete kit: this one. All wires are connected appropriately as they were before. Now this happens:

Welcome Curtis!
Someone should be along shortly that can help out. @Alex - this looks to be in the wrong section.

You need a new flasher relay to stop the lower-draw LED signals from hyperflashing.
You need a diode kit to keep the power from bleeding over to the other side via the dash indicator. It does this with the stock signals, but the incandescent bulbs are so inefficient they won't light up. The low-power LED signals will light up just on the bit of power that trickles through.

I agree with @InvisiBill 100% this is the fault of Kawasaki being lazy and/or cheap using the same bulb for both sides of the turn indicators.
I myself have done the relay itself, but I installed a resistor in each of front turn indicators. While this uses more wattage, it did fix the problem, and to be honest how long do you really keep the turn signal on. To be honest I didn't know about the diodes and I'm going to he doing the diode modification soon, along with replacing the OEM turn indicator bulb with an LED to match the rest of my warning lights. Finally my bike is 100% LEDs now! The how-to article courtesy of our brothers over at ninja250.org http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/My_LED_...27t_work_right

I understand how this would cause both LED signals to flash simultaneously. I don't get how this prevents the front right signal from even lighting up at all while the front left works fine. Do you think this solution will make everything work again like it is supposed to? |

The Tridon electronic flasher relay I personally vouch for.

So, in preparation to add these resistors I found that the black wire to my right front turn signal was disconnected. I'm not sure how that happened. I didn't see that on my first check for some reason. Lots of unnecessary headache. Without taking anything off the bike, I reconnected it and everything works fine.
I still have new front signals on order because a previous owner added some redneck Tractor Supply looking lights that don't match. Those resistors may be necessary after that mod. It may be wise to hang on to them until then. Thanks so much for everyone's help. Perfect n00b first post if you ask me. I'm just going to pretend in my own mind that I did some major genius electrical modification and fixed it. |
