New 250r owner
Hey,
Just bought a 2007 Ninja 250r. It's in rough shape cosmetically, but runs well enough with 10k miles. Rode it home 30 miles, and the clutch is slipping, there's a very slow coolant leak near where the coolant hose enters the engine on the left side, it probably needs carbs cleaned, maybe a valve adjustment, and cam chain tensioner cleaned/replaced due to some extra noise going on for good measure. After a little TLC, the plan is to get naked. Minimal/no fairings, wires and electrical parts relocated or tucked away, and maybe after some inexpensive suspension mods and better tires (the ones on it look new, no dry rot, but are date coded 2014 and probably a little hard) I plan to make it a corner carving machine. Always wanted a light bike for the twisties. My last bike was a 1000cc and fun in a straight line, but this 250 is so much better in the turns. Looking forward to the journey ahead with this thing.

Cameron, it's good to meet you, and welcome. You're right about the twisties. I'll be taking my 250, and my 1972 H2 and my 1978 Yamaha DT100 to the Dragon in two weeks for the annual 2-stroke meet. Stop by if you can. As I've said before, if you ask about Jim, someone will point you to me, and if you'd rather not meet me, ask for Jim and when someone points you to me, go the other way.

Hi and welcome!!
Coolant leak may be upstream at hose clamp on hose. Check that first as it's easier than O-ring replacement. |

Valves adjusted, broken levers replaced, oil changed, chain tightened, coolant leak addressed, and finally, showing some skin (bones?). Removed rear plastics, cut middle piece at an angle to match seat, relocated some electronics, detabbed frame (need to smooth out and finish), installed cheapo Amazon tail light, and waiting on clipons. Going to lower the forks just enough to clear them.
Next up will be fork springs, valve emulators, rear shock replacement of some sort, and new tires. Going well so far. Also, I desperately need to clean up the front with a different headlight and gauges, but here it is as of today.
