Any time people say mean things about Ninjettes...

Posted in Off-Topic because it's a non-serious thing, but you can move it if you like.

Any time people make comments about the Ninjette being a beater bike or something you just pass on to some squid who'll wreck it a year down the road, I swear I get that Sarah McLachlan sad puppy music in my head... and an image like this...

Because I am a gigundous dork.

I see a lot more people complaining about people ridiculing them for their small-displacement motorcycles than I ever see of it actually happening.

Not ridicule really, but it makes me sad when people say "oh, you'll get rid of that bike in a year, so there's no point spending too much money on it"... which I've heard a couple of times

But then I also used to cry when Johnny 5 got beat up in Short Circuit. :P Which is kinda why I'm making fun of myself with this pic.

Every time I tell someone new about my plans to get a 300, I wonder if I'm going to get laughed at. I've had that happen many a time. I've had a number of guys ask me why don't I just start out with a Gixxer 750. The Harley guys I meet always insist that all sport bikes suck (and that they should know since that's what they used to have).

It does get a little old having to explain my love of sport bikes but the reality of me being short (just over 5') and never having ridden on my own means the Ninja 300 is the smart choice.

LizardyWizard, the pic reminds me of a lil stuffed alien I used to have lol. I think it's cute

Any time, anyone, gives me grief about how i'm not living my life they way they think I should...

I say, "YEAH! ain't freedom GREAT!"

and then I rev the engine until that winey voice gets out of my head. If that doesn't work a smoking squealing burn out usually gets the job done.

I had a BMW touring bike guy I was talking to mention that I paid less for my bike then he paid for a broken mirror when he dropped his. (I have about $600 in my 2001)

I really don't care what other people think, the Ninja 250 is a great little bike for what I need. I took a 520 mile motorcycle camping trip this past weekend, with all of the gear I needed on my bike. Kept up just fine with the Harley's and Gold Wings. The only downside to the 250 is if my wife wants to ride two up with me, which she doesn't seem to want to do.

Yeah, well, I'm seeing a lot of little bikes around. The Ninja I parked next to over the weekend was a 250, given what it sounded like when he started it up. The bike that parked next to us while we were gone was a Ninja, and didn't look to be any bigger.

Met a couple of guys headed out to some canyons- all three on little bikes.

So ... yeah. There are a lot of little bikes out there and people having fun on 'em.

As my 5th bike, I have to say it is one of (if not) my favorite. I just love clicking up and down the gears and being engaged with the bike the entire ride. Do I miss the power of a Fireblade? Sure I do. 85mph in 1st gear. But guess what I was doing around town? Yup 2nd and 3rd gear all day long. Downshifting before turns? Nope, no need for that on a larger bike.

My old 250 and now 300 made me a much better rider and improved my riding techniques. When you can't compensate for shitt-y lines in corners, you try to hit the damn corners with the correct line so you can keep the momentum going. With bigger bikes, bad line? No problem, just twist the throttle and you're flying down the straight in a blink of an eye.

Besides that, the riding position of the 300 is so much better for just cruising around town and commuting.

Yes! Before I bought Hurricane, I'd never driven stick and most of the bicycles I'd ridden didn't have gears, so I was like "...aw man, I have to do manual gear changes? That's gonna suck!"

And at first while riding I did feel like that. But more and more these days, I feel like there's something beautiful about it. Being engaged with the bike, that's a good way to put it. I'm never in "autopilot".

Just so you know, the 1000cc guys get it too.

"Why does your Gixxer sound like that"

it's only running on two cylinders

Only recall once that someone said anything negative about the 250. At Englishtown we went to a battery booth to get a new one for Pikachu and the BF bike.

Told the guy what i road and you told me you'll get something bigger eventually. The look on his face was priceless when i told him "well, i did. Sporty 883. the 250 was better so i sold it for the 06."

I really don't recall any other negative comments. But i don't really pay any attention to that kinda crap anyway.

Side note.. A couple times my 300 was mistaken for a 650 or even a zx6.

The only time I've had someone say something "mean" about the Ninjette was the sales creep when I went to buy mine. Let my money talk for me by going elsewhere and picked up Seiryu from a nice guy up in Tahoe.

My view on people harping on the Ninjette or saying crap about these little bikes is just to keep on riding. Sure, I can't do triple digits down the front straight, but I've no need to. Because while they exhaust themselves out after two or three hours of hard knee-dragging riding doing laps on the mountain passes, I'm just getting started.

My favorite exchange was opening the hotel door in Jacksonville, FL to the startled look from my end witness.

"You came across the country on THAT?!"
"Yeah."
"That's a 600, right?"
"Nope, 250."
"Whoa....."

Summed it up right there, Team 250 RULES!

person: hmmm, just a 250
Thinks to self: {Doesn't matter what the hell you think obviously I ride more than you}
