Full Fairing set w custom paint for under $500 ... too good to be true?

Apologies if this is a repost.

Ever since my crash in 09, I've been looking through ebay on a regular basis for a right side 09 se green fairing. Today, I found several posts for a full fairing set for the new gen ninja 250s. The ads say they'll paint it in any way you like and that the fairings are ABS!

I'm a little uneasy. What do you guys think?

I have heard that "fit" is an issue with these sets - one set on ebay, a guy said that no matter what he did, the headlight would not fit in the cowling properly.

They want another $150+ for shipping, and the typos concern me. It might be legit, but a lot of their paint "photos" look like some cheesy photoshopping

I wouldn't want to deal with it just for the broken english that's used on the descriptions.

You could consider this body kit from Matt, it looks sick. If I needed to replace my fairings I would buy them in a heart bit.

Looked over the auction again, and it says that it is for 2007 to 2009.....2007 is a different body. It also says that it comes with 12 pieces??? Did a count isn't there only 7 painted fairing pieces?? Unless it comes with the gas tank and both side pieces as well as the gauge surround and rad fairing too

I've talked with Matt about getting one of his racing bodywork kits, but last time I checked with him, he had none in stock.

Has anyone bought a set and installed it on their bikes? I plan to keep my front cowl and the biggest concern I have is fit... As Matt explained to me, each kit is custom and there may (or may not) be fit issues. I suppose I'll have this problem with any aftermarket fairing thou...

Another concern I have with aftermarket fairings is the lack of the foamy stuff and head sink tape on the inside of the fairings. Are fiberglass fairings more effected by heat? Will my new fairings melt?!

FG is what they use in mufflers it holds up just fine. Its hard to keep the bodys in stock due to their make time. Mine will fit. Its just if you choose to run the stock front I can't speak to the actual fit since I have not tried it myself. And I won't confirm something I haven't tried myself. Regardless of what sportisi tells me.

The bodywork kits from Hong Kong have severe fitment issues. Stay away at all costs.

Did anyone actually fitted one of these on?
Or are we all prejudice?

Few of my mates have after market kit from china installed. (not the ninja). and not much of a problem. You wouldn't expect top quality. But it works.

I' like to see how it fits.

I know this thread is old as balls. But just wanted to put in that I made the HUGE mistake of buying one of these sets off ebay. Parts and shipping came out to $488. Got the pieces, The right side lower faring was cracked in two places, the front faring was almost broken completely in half and the pieces did not fit AT ALL! The seller told me to take the pieces to a body shop to have them fixed. When I told them I just wanted a refund, all communication ceased.... Don't waste your money.

I realize this is old, but I read it as it was bumped, and I was wondering if this was still sold?

as stated above, they don't fit at all. I left the bad reviews. lol The customer service was TERRIBLE! I actually broke the piece that surrounds the gauge cluster while bolting it on simply because it just didn't line up. I just opened up a claim on ebay. Please, everyone stay away from these.

If you go read through more of the reviews, just about every review for motorcycle parts is very negative.

Well, here's my problem. According to the sellers return policy, if you ship the items back, you will be refunded the purchase price but not the original shipping price and you have to pay to ship the items back. According to the listing, the price of the parts is $236 and the shipping was $255. So if that is really how much shipping was, it would get 236 back then spend 255. So its pointless. The best i'm going to get is the seller offered me $100 to revise my negative feedback.. I suppose thats better than nothing...

If you remove your negative feedback you'll get a $100, but leaves less evidence for others that come along wondering if the fairings are worth it. I guess it's a toss up, but I'd try to go through ebay and not revise the feedback.

For how much these things cost with shipping and all that, i would think as long as you dont need the tank painted a good body shop should be able to patch/bondo and paint them for around the same amount of money when all is said and done.

Despite what I have heard and said about these, I ordered a set for one of my projects, a 1988 Suzuki RGV250. It arrived after a couple of weeks in a HUGE box from China. I was blown away by the quality of the packaging, and the quality of the plastics and paints. My set is a Schwantz Pepsi replica, so has lots of graphics and decals, which were all professionally applied and clear coated. I guess you just have to do your research and go with a company that has good feedback. For $480, I am truly amazed.

Well friend, it sounds like you are one of the lucky few. The box mine arrived in was crushed on all the corners and the parts were stuffed in the box and were all wrapped in this thin foam paper. Don't get me wrong though... The parts look amazing. The paint job on them is really incredible. The decals are all applied vert precisely and there are multiple coats of clear over them. So if you are buying these parts to hang on your wall, then go for it. Otherwise, I strongly suggest you don't waste your money.

Sorry you had a bad experience. There are at least a few of these sellers on eBay, so I guess you got stuck with the bad one.

I have heard there are good ones and bad ones, I have just bought some, and if I have fitment issues I have a mate with a body shop that can help, The reviews on some are dispicable and others are good, there is a guy in Australia who has been to china and qc'd a few factories there. He is importing them over but putting a huge mark up on them. I was recommended the guy I have purchased from so wish me luck, I've saved thousands so far with ebay so if i get stung I'm not that bothered, I will let u know how I go. I have a thread going in farkles. ebay are really good and want to weed out the bad sellers so reporting them is the right way to go, I enquired about the shipping cost and they reassure me it is because they pack it well in a large box, that is why it's so much, Sorry for anyone who has had a bad experience, I have been to Hong Kong and I know that quality varies from one to another and there is sooo many of them there competing with one and other, I normally throw them a reason like, A note on the purchase saying I'm a dealer trialing the product or something along those lines, It helps.

right those who get good ones need to post up which seller it was, and bad ones need to post up the bad sellers. This is the only way we will know which guys to buy them from....

Maybe we should set up a name and shame thread, I am about two weeks away from receiving my fairings, when I get them and fit them I will report on my experience, I was chatting to a MC guy today and he was telling me about a mate who bought some that were great, so we know there are good ones out there, some fantastic paint jobs on them too. Patiently waiting now, hopefully good news to follow.
