That's exactly my point -A loud aftermarket exhaust (ie noise) can lead to a rider fatiguing rapidly. It doesn't matter if it's at the office or on a bike. Feel free to google noise and fatigue.

It's the closest thing to a real rebuttal in my opinion, but still falls short.
I never talked about rider fatigue because I have no idea how prevalent of an issue it is. I never noticed any difference between stock pipes and aftermarket because I've always worn ear plugs. I know that wind noise in itself is enough to cause fatigue, so we can't really isolate the exhaust noise to compare.

And fwiw, the stock pipes are as loud as is legally allowed (at least on the pregen, they're rated for right at the limit). Anything louder is not legal from a noise stand point. I know Two brothers makes some slip-ons that are CARB compliant. Not sure if that's an emissions thing, a noise thing, or both.

Also, thanks Nathan I agree with you. As long as we're respectful, we can talk about anything.

I personally want to see fewer people with straight pipe because I don't want to lose my ability to run my exhaust system. It really makes a difference in the look, sound, response, and weight of my bike. I ride intelligently so I'm not redlining and causing a ruckus, but at the same time, I'm louder than stock bike.

idk, I guess I just don't consider it a safety thing because I think mainly of traffic. I know that I never hear bikes when I have my cage all bottled up and I'm at highway speed, but then again I actively look for them.

I haven't read through all the posts, so i'm not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but Musarri has a nice cheap slip-on alternative.

I bought one and it was much cheaper than the Two Bros and yoshi pipes I was also looking at.

It sounds great, and it's pretty damn loud when the silencer is removed.

I got mine off ebay for around $250.

A logical response to the OP's actual request for slip-on options... Ain't nobody got time for that.

FWIW, I don't love or hate my stock muffler. It is what it is. If I had a few spare $100's laying around, I would upgrade it, or buy more gear. Yeah, prally more gear.

I wish more people would have the common sense to do that.

All I can do is shake my head and feel bad for the people who spend thousands on upgrades, but complain that halfway decent gear is too expensive.

WELL!! i got my baffle. I would say, if you go Danmoto go WITH the baffle! Sounds awesome and is NOT overly obnoxious! Loud enough but not too loud.

Why is everyone arguing about sound and safety? The kid wants his bike to sound cool and included the safety part so he wouldn't get any flak for wanting a slip on. Majority of kids at uni probably have a 600 and he wants his 250 to sound cool. Same thing I wanted he just doesn't have the luxury of spending a lot on a full system.

As far as slip ons
-Two Brothers
-Muzzy
-MGP Growler
-Yoshimura
-Musarri
-Termignoni
-Akrapovic

From what I know the two brothers is very loud as well as the mgp.
Akrapovic and Yoshimura have the best sounds imo.

There's a lot more off brands out there too.

Wear ear plugs and the noise doesn't bother you, Any harly is still 10x louder than me so I could care less how loud my can is. even without earplugs the noise is fine.

I think everyone just needs to chill out. If he wants a loud pipe he should get one. Its his bike.
If "you" don't like it thats fine. Not your bike.
Have fun and ride safe.

I don't disagree with the advice to chill out, but the loud pipes issue is misunderstood by many, including newer motorcyclists who don't know any better.

im having the same problem with my bike. i had decided to go with a leo vince slip on because of the price. but then went to order and they were out of stock and won't be in for 3 weeks at that particular dealer. i too want some noise so it sounds better than the silencer on it now but don't want a growler or anything like that after reading up on how loud the growler actually is.

I have a two bros black series carbon fiber slip on. It is extremely loud and on the highway i feel like i am deafening people with the engine at 9k rpm. i ended up shelling out the 30 dollars for a P1X power tip and now i love the exhaust, its at the perfect tone. i can barely hear it at cruising speed on the highway now. At the low speeds through town its slightly quieter but not much but thats ok cause its not droning like on the highway. I recommend the two bros and order one with a P1X tip. You can always remove and reinstall it for street and track

if you just want cheap and loud, Danmoto has a fix for you. for $125 http://www.dan-moto.com/DM_US/zx-250...oduct-368.html its probably the cheapest slip-on that is one of the loudest (2nd to growler).

He was wearing army pants so the driver could not see him

what you can not hear on the video is the low deep tone the exhaust has.
