Flap challenge #2

Hey all,
If you missed the first Challenge at Thunderhill, there will be a second Feel Like a Pro Challenge on June 30 at Sears Point (formerly Infineon). I know many of you have wanted to race this track so here's your chance!

I will even personally spend 2 practice sessions towing folks around who have never been to the track.

AFM is only racing the track twice this year so let's make this a big show! We are already getting grids of 30 bikes, so I think it would be awesome for all of us if we got the grids to 40-50 bikes! That would be a heck of race don't ya think?!?

And on Sunday, you can race another 3 races if you want to in the AFM! 250 Prod, 250 Superbike and 500 Twin. Definitely get your money's worth for the drive to Sears Point!

Oh and the AFM runs Expert and Novice grids so don't worry if this is your first year

Holy.... Aite aite aite, let me talk to the MRA guys and see if they'll forgive me, and see if theres another time I can go up there this season. I've always wanted to race sears point, and this looks really fun.

Will report back. Also if any socal people want in, we could arrange some ride sharing deal.

This will be the biggest 250 race weekend of there year guys. No where in the USA will there be an event with this many riders, all on 250. Not even the WERA National later this year. This event will help determine what kind of West Coast Championship race we can put together for 2012. If riders cant show up to races this close, trying to make a National series in AMA will be difficult. I promise nothing but fun. Get some guys to chip in and drive your bikes. Fly into San Fran and rent a car. This entire weekend will be under 1,000 bucks. Call me for motivation lol 559 273 4429 At least REXBO has to come

the one and only sears point! Watch some of the youtube vids, the track is crazy

Ok so... I have a trailer available if needed to transport bikes from SoCal. If we can get 3-4 bikes to come with, I'm fine with driving the bikes up and back on thurs/fri or sun/mon depending on peoples schedules, along with anyone who wants ride with. I talked to Bartlow and the weekend will be in the $300-ish range if you want to do practice day sat, flap challenge, and all 3 races on sunday. He's working on CVMA reciprocity so probably there will be no licensing fee, just racing costs + gas.

There were 30+ bikes on grid last round, and the more bikes show up, the more it can become something bigger for 250 racing on the West Coast, and no matter where you are time-wise you will have a battle. Lets GOOOOOO

YES! This sounds amazing. I'm definitely in if we can carpool and split costs. Well... let me request the time off when my boss gets back from vacation tomorrow so I know for sure I can be in, but yeah- if they'll accept cvma reciprocity and there's not a lot of extra prep I have to do to pass tech, I'd love to race up there for this event

I don't think there's any difference between tech requirements. As for rules... they're fairly close, and I think most of our bikes conform to them... except maybe darren's tires and my dogbones. Either way since we're not going to be challenging anyone for championship points it won't be an issue.

I don't know how strict they are on noise though. Pretty sure like half the CVMA grid could get DQ'd if they put noise restrictions on the bikes.

This is the track, but this is the old configuration. The track we currently use has a chicane in Turn 1 and Turn 9 (Turn 9a on map) to slow down some of the speeds. We also utilize turn 11a (on map).

what's the gearing for this track???
I know FLAP has done chuckwalla AND infineon. did you run the same gearing?

CT Racing, Chris Maguire and his crew will be there all weekend to support racers all weekend with track side services.

What do you mean by onsite deal?

CVMA does racer discounts... so say normally you order a set of tires for $xxx online, then you have to pay $xx to mount them. well at chuckwalla it's more like $xyz with free mounting.

I just want to be prepared with cash for new tires. ALSO, you guy's are all talking me into Pirelli's... :P

Hey Darren, a couple things and I could be mistaken about how CVMA does it but I will give you my best "unofficial" answer to my knowledge.

Any race tires bought through a West Coast Pirelli distributor comes with free mounting and balance.

Also, I believe as you are a CVMA guy, if you have a contract with Racers Edge Performance, any agreement will be seen as an existing deal with an existind sub-distributor. Therefore, to my knowledge that deal would be available at any West Coast track you decided to race. You could/should probably have Dale contact Chris Maguire of CT Racing and have him confirm your status as a supported rider.

A reminder though, if you are on contract, I believe there is a clause where you are not to disclose prices or your contract specifics publicly.

I'm aware... i did not disclose any prices.. I only put if's and maybe's.
I will erase them incase they were misleading. I'm just looking for the inside scoop up there. thanks.
