Somebody loosened all the f*cking fairing bolts on my 250

So I'm at work. My cousin, who works with this same company I do, swang by during my lunch break. I asked him to take me to McDonald's because I didn't feel like putting on all my gear and riding over there.
We were gone for maybe 15 minutes at most.
When we got back, my cousin left. My bike was parked near some sprinklers and the water turned on, so I went to move my bike.
That's when I noticed that every single bolt that connects the two side fairings to the bike were loosened.
I used the factory toolkit to tighten them all just a bit ago.

I'm thankful the a-hole(s) didn't steal the bolts but I'm pissed off that someone thought it'd be a fun idea to f*ck with my bike like that.

The only people who were here before I left for lunch were some gardeners. They were gone when I got back.
I'm almost 99% sure it was one of them (if not all of them) because they have all sorts of tools in the back of their POS worktruck. One of them used to ask me questions in very broken English about my bike and motorcycling in general. Maybe jealousy got the best of his punk @$$.
I'm thinking about seeking revenge next week when they come by, but I can't really think of anything to do...

Maybe flatten one of their tires. Idk. I probably won't do it just because I can't be too certain it was them. Maybe somebody else saw me leaving with my cousin & decided to f*ck around with my bike? Whoever it was, f*ck that individual and his/her entire family and anyone acquainted with them.

Ever since you made that idiotic thread a while back where you didn't make ANY sense whatsoever & I pointed it out, you've been trying to say dumb sh*t to me.
You don't know me at all, so don't assume I deserve that sh*t.

I can't believe anyone can hold an online grudge for as long as your pathetic a$$ has. It's so sad how you say dumb sh*t directed towards me. I usually ignore you, but enough is enough.
Do you expect an apology from me? If that's the case, I'm sorry that you don't make sense in some of your posts. I'm sorry you didn't pay enough attention in English class.

Oh! I'm also sorry that people with English as their second or even third language, such as me, speak and write better than you.

FYI - bolts then to come undone if you don't torque or put loctite on them. Ask Andylawcc how I know. LMAO!

I would say just re torque them and chalk it up to not having made them tight enough originally. That's a pretty random thing for someone to do and you did recently swap the fairings. Just sayin

They're the same ones.

And no, guys, I am 100% certain I torqued my bolts as tightly as I possibly could have when I changed the fairings a few weeks back. Plus, they wouldn't all be loose like that at once.
Almost all of them looked like they were ready to fall out. I could've pulled a few out with my fingers if I wanted, that's how loosened they were.

None of this makes any sense. Nobody would just loosen fairing bolts for no reason. My guess is they just loosened over time, especially if you just messed with them. You always re-torque anything you worked on after a 100 mile shakedown. Try a dab of blue loctite next time to be sure.

Any chance it was your cousin, messin' with ya before he came in? Just a harmless practical joke between relatives (harmless because he knew you'd notice before riding off)? I've had a couple work loose, even after making sure they were seriously snug, but all of 'em at once is definitely something intentional.

I had one cousin steal my license plates off my truck while I was visiting a while back. He thought it was funny as hell when he pulled my plates out of his pack while we were driving; just glad I didn't get pulled over.

If you want to vent, I agree... messed up.

If you're actually pissed, calm down and let it go... life's too short to let it get to you.

If you want more analysis, bolts come loose all the time, use loctite to prevent that, and yes it is suspicious that all of them came loose so maybe, just maybe someone's trying to prank/mess with you.

I think the issue is over and all of us, including you should just shrug it off... and move on to the next fun ride. No need to be angry. No need to use profanity. No need to be pointing fingers at anybody. No harm done. This would be a good time to check all your other bolts, switches, tubes, fluids and just go for a ride after everything checks out.

Some two years ago, I was riding the 250 beside a female cager...we were both doing 65mph when all of a sudden I heard a POP! PING!

I immediately thought I ran over a pebble and it ricocheted hitting my headers or exhaust. Anyways, the moment I heard the sound I noticed the cager decreasing her speed and maintained her distance behind. So in the brief moment I thought okay the noise must have come from her car and thought nothing of it.

I have a habit of inspecting my bike after a ride, so when I arrived home I looked her down and noticed a bolt missing from the middle fairing. I knew it was there before my ride home and that's when I put one & one together. The vibration unloosened the bolt and shot it directly at the cager beside me...THAT was the POP & PING noise. LOL!

She must have thought I was pissed off at her for traveling so slow and threw something at her. LOL!

So I guess every single bolt decided to loosen up and almost drop out at once at the same time.

Yeah, that makes more sense than some prick deciding to play a terrible joke on me when he (or maybe they) saw me leave for lunch.

I'll keep that in mind.

Yeah, some guy had the perfect sized allen tool wrench and unloosened them. Maybe they were loosened before and just not tighten enough? IDK...either way, you still have your bolts & fairings.

Move on.

It is far more likely that vibration loosened them and you just didn't notice.

If nothing else now you know to check them more regularly for any loose bolts whether it is due to vibration or the far less likely allen wrench equipped thug.

I think you're right.... everyone is out to get you and trust nobody. Everyone is a suspect. If I were you I would flatten every tire in the area until someone comes clean. Also, I would randomly go around and punch people in the face in hopes that they would just come clean. And, of course, don't sleep through the night - they may have followed you home and will cut your break lines. I would get an alarm asap and start walking to work as opposed to riding the bike. In fact, I wouldn't ride for a while until the criminal is in cuffs.

Good thing I'm not you

You need to relax babe.

This is why I don't eat McDonald's. Not only is their food horrible but when you come back, a nomadic tribe of Gypsies has messed with the bolts on your bike. The world is getting crazy. Iran is on the verge of building a nuclear arsenal and now this. Is this the type of legacy our generation wants to leave for our kids? People riding around with loose bolts? Let's all have a minute and pray for world peace.

That would freak me out if someone played with my bike. We kinda depend on them being all in one piece when we're riding along. Messing with a bike like that is not a funny joke to play on someone.

Before I ride I always give the bike a walk around and visually check for any issues.

Since we're talking about loose bolts... everybody should take a second and check their engine mount bolts. They're kinda important.

Is it too late to mention I do this almost every morning before riding to work? I commute 30+ miles one way, so I usually check my bike the way the MSF suggests.
I check the tires, the horn, high beams, etc. This includes the bolts, too.

Also, @ some of you guys thinking I'm carrying this as a weight on my shoulder. I'm over it already. I'm just going to chalk it off as some douche bag playing a practical joke.
I was just pissed when I made the OP, so that is why it might've come across as too aggressive. I'm fine now.
No harm done, just time wasted.
I don't plan on leaving during lunchtime any more, though.

Vibrations loosened my exhaust hanger bolt. I lost the bolt, rubber bushings, and the nut during a ride. I noticed my exhaust was hanging, connected only by the clamp when I got home. I'm so lucky it didn't fall off...especially during a right turn. I made sure to loctite everything after that!

No worries. We were just having some fun at your expense. Honestly, its only funny cause it didn't happen to us. I'm sure any one of us would have been annoyed if it happened to us. Some just express it differently
