Rain‑X® Plastic Water Repellent

So for many years now using Original RainX on your visor was NO-NO, due to it was not formulated for plastics.

Well it seems now the makes of RainX have finally listened to all of us whom ride, and made a formula just for plastics.

I purchased mine thru Amazon a few months ago, cost was under $6.00 USD with PRIME,

Rain-X 620036 Plastic Treatment - 12 fl. oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00T9LR2BQ..._CmoPvbBT5RJJ9

, and been using it/test it, it's been a really wet season here in the south this year, no damage so far to any of my visors (Fulmer Polycarbonate), and it works just like it should. Apply to the outside of the visor per the directions, and water just rolls off the visor, and even cleaning is easier now, the bugs don't stick as much.

So if you ride in the elements, I would recommend this product.

Rain‑X® Plastic Water Repellent
APPLIES WATER BEADING TECHNOLOGY TO PLASTIC SURFACES!

The unique water repelling benefit, found in Rain‑X® Original Glass Water Repellent is now available in a product specifically formulated for plastic surfaces! Rain‑X® Plastic Water Repellent provides a superior water beading coating on various plastics including Lexan®, Plexiglas®, Perspex®, Lucite®, Acrylics and Polycarbonate. Watch water bead up and roll away on motorcycle windscreens, goggles, visors and boat windshields for improved visibility!

Product Features
Applies water beading technology to dramatically enhance visibility
Specifically formulated for plastic surfaces
Easily applied for a durable coating
Available in 12oz size
Product Usage Instructions
Shake well before use
Clean and dry surfaces before treating
Spray directly onto plastic surfaces or onto a clean, dry cloth

Scott, have you noticed any (and I mean ANY) haziness from using this? Any weird light effects at night (e.g. halos, flares)?

I did slightly at first, but it was due to i didn't apply it properly, mostly shaking it up first, I used too much, and didn't buff it enough.

Once I got the hang of it no more issues, it only took a few times.

Does it also work as anti-fog on the inside?

As it is applied to the outside of the visor I don't think so,. I have a Fulmer gradient mirror black visor, as well as a smoke, and clear, and it hasn't had no ill effects as of yet. If I remember correctly all finishes are applied from the inside of the visor, but you might want to check with the manufacturer to be sure, I know the Fulmer ones are.

Good find! Will order some soon.

With regular rain-X, I've found that you have to lay it on thick, then use a damp rag after it's dried to remove the excess that causes a haze.

How long between treatment?

If you wash your visor to remove, say bugs or dust, do you have to reapply it or it holds for a few cleaning?

Have you ever used "plexus plastic cleaner", if so, how does it compare to Rain-X?

Thanks!

And one last thing, is it very effective at low speed or under "misty" conditions?
