So sorry man, I live near that area where he was hit and I was thinking about riding down that way earlier. Again, best wishes for him.

Thank you to anyone that donated. They've raised enough to get his family here. Your prayers and support are very much appreciated.

I sure hope he fully recovers. He sounds like the type of guy who would. Just curious, but was he wearing a helmet?

The drunk that hit him looks like the definition of a b!tch. Glad they caught her. I hope they lock her up for life. Or maybe turn her over to the marine corps for proper punishment. Even if she beats the state charges, I think she'll still face federal charges.

I doubt she will beat the state charges because of her previous DUI's and her suspended license.

I don't know for sure what gear he was wearing but I'm pretty positive he would at least wear a helmet. He's crazy but not dumb, I don't think he would have lived if he wasn't wearing a helmet and I'm sure it would have been in the news report.

He's in charge of the motorcycle club at his unit so I'm sure he would be setting the example and riding with a hlemet. He's also a very experienced rider, he's been riding bikes forever. He used to only ride sportbikes but then he had knee surgery and couldn't take the riding position any longer so he switched to a HD.

No one knows if the driver had previous DUI's. The comments about someone having 6 DUI's was someone else that admitted they had 6 prior. Not the driver.

I know I heard someone had DUI's and a suspended license on a video...bad memory.

Hate hearing these stories but its reality. A good friend of mine is still recovering from a bad accident. He also is a marine who served loyaly for our country. He just had the pins and plates removed from his foot yesterday.

I hope that your friend makes a full recovery. This is the downside to our sport, if your going to ride you have to be willing to drink from the cup of suffering.

Latest news report update:

http://www.cbs8.com/story/15202905/a...marines-family

So she plead not guilty, had a BAC of 37, and it turns out she's married to a Marine...

He's still in the hospital, needs surgery, and doctors don't know if he'll be able to walk or function normally when and if he recovers.

Sending prayers Jorge. Hope he recovers. How someone can have a BAC of
0.37 at that hour is beyond me. God Bless, my brother!

Yeah, that is a very unusual hour to be drunk. The b!tch has some serious booze problems.

I didn't even know that it can get up that high, 0.37 BAC. Wow, she must have been SO wasted! Shouldn't she be in a coma with a BAC that high?

Anyone who can still stand up on their own with a BAC that high has been drinking a while. She's the walking definition of white trash. If her marine husband has any sense, he'll divorce her right away.

Sorry to hear the biker is still in a coma. Hope he recovers soon.

He's still in the hospital, he's going to need surgery to repair a bunch of tendons in his head/neck. He can acknowledge people and questions by moving his eyes or squeezing his hand or moving his leg but he's still hooked up to a breathing tube and no one knows when and if he'll make a full recovery.

I'll update when I get new information but since I'm not there myself I can only relay back the information I get from friends. Also out of respect for him and his family I won't be telling you guys every grueseome detail but I'll tell you guys what I can.

She plead not guilty, hired a lawyer who seems like a dirtbag. His website pretty much says it all, he'll represent anyone for anything, including child abusers. Next court date is in a week I think. Let's see what happens.

I have a medical background, I can tell you that being able to move his legs is a good sign and indicates that he doesn't have complete paralysis despite a severe neck injury. It doesn't guarantee that a full recovery is imminent, but its a sign that if/when he recovers, his chances of getting around on his own are good.

Oddly enough, right now, based on what you have said, his most immediate danger is from pneumonia. Its caused from extended use of a ventilator (breathing tube). Lets hope that he will be stable enough to remove it soon.

Thanks for the update, we all hope he recovers soon.

I have been looking around here for quite a while. I have meant to post on a few things here and there but never have. Today, I took the time to register.

This is just horrible, people are calling for jail. I honestly think that more should be done. This should be a national TV campaign here not a local / regional. Drunk drivers should be dealt with in the harshest of ways. Especially one that hits a motorcycle and then RUNS!!!!

My room mate is someone that was nailed for DUI a year ago. He got off scott free. Said he would never drink again.... about 3 months ago, he drove home from a party and took out a fence. Didn't even remember why he drove home. Perhaps it's me, but I find the fact that he still drinks at all a little on the foolish side. I certainly understand wanting a beer and this lady did what my room mate could have done. That makes me sad, because while he hurt no one he would have never forgiven himself if he did.

On the other side of things I have been hit on my bike and woke up to no one there because the driver ran. This woman should be made an example of. Show people that they need to be responsible when drinking, an to try to mitigate the damage they do when they do hit someone, car, bike or otherwise.

My thoughts are with your friend. I hope he has a speedy recovery and that the media crucifies this woman in a way that the courts wont so that the drivers and drinkers of the country see the damage they can really do. I hope that your friend continues to be a hero for a long time to come.

Update on my friend:

He's doing great. His surgery went well and they removed the breathing tube. He's very alert and able to communicate now. He should be getting moved out of the ICU soon.

Thank you all once again for supporting him. They showed him a bunch of websites that show how much people are praying for him as well as his own FB page and it really meant a lot to him. Thanks again.
