Arrow How the gears of your bike were made

Manufacturing each of the gears in your transmission and clutch takes some science and work:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gear

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machining

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heat_treatment

The white liquid that you see in the video is a machining lubricant-coolant.

The heat treatment makes the surfaces of contact with other gears very hard and resistant to wear.

All the torque that gets transferred from your engine to your rear tire goes through a line of contact between two teeth at any time; hence, the importance of an oil able to resist high pressure, heat and sheer without falling apart.

That's crazy, doubt our 250 engines were built like that.
