just watched a track vid of jennings, I forgot that there was grass on the sides of the track hahaha I zone out everything unnecessary while riding it (as I probably should)

turns 3-6 look so weird in video, way different than it feels. Looks like there's more space than there feels like there is

@Sirref turns 3-6 are so inconsistent in all of my videos. Sometimes I blaze in trying to pass someone or catch up and glide through them. Other times I brake heavy for three and mozy into it.

Looks like I won't be able to do a 3-day weekend in February with you guys. I will probably ride one day but stay the weekend and throw down with the crew

@csmith12 I have a friend that got into motorcycling very recently. He is learning but I believe at a very slow pace. He is confident on these local backroads with little-no traffic but not proficient at city driving. His slow speed maneuvers also need a tad bit of work. Do you think a track day would be beneficial to someone at his skill level? He has no 2 wheeled experience besides these past few months on his bike.

I'm not Chris, but it's an awesome idea! What safer place to learn twisties than on a track?

Just be sure the coaches know the situation so someone will take him under their wing.

yeah I can see turn 3-6 being inconsistent, I had it down fairly similar each time I went through but I wasn't carrying as much speed into 3

It's a good time either way though. Bring an extra $50 spot with ya, sometimes people walk around the paddock selling their second/third day for cheap.

Hmmmm, normally I would say yes but it's Jennings man. Did you read my review here? There are no schools offered during these dates. So first and foremost, call them and ensure they will have a proper coaching available to take care of his on track needs and address anything else. I have already promised my track time to Ally on Sat. in N and to another rider on Sun. in I. Other than that, there will be about 30 of us that will be able to help him out in the paddock with bike related stuff and any questions. I will personally help prep and check over his bike if needed.

If they got a coach for him, then bring him along.

Even though I am planning on working one on one with a few riders, I should be able to break away to have a bit of fun with everyone every now and then. I like to let riders have the room to learn without someone breathing down their neck.
Just like last Feb. my plan is to ride a different group each day;
Sat. - Novice
Sun. - Intermediate
Mon. - Expert - Goal of the day is to break the 250 lap record 1:28 or better. So ya'lls on your own while on track.

Oh! Kevin is coming again too!

/secret....
If your entry and speed is f'ed up into 3, then 4 is going to be just as f'ed. If 4 is f'ed, then most likely 5 will be too. Many times 5 is salvageable in the slower groups but not in Expert. Get 3 right... then 4 and 5 worth themselves out almost by themselves.

Just don't tell anybody ok?

aww shizz mon is gonna be fun to watch the expert group

guess I should find someone to coach me a bit too for a session or two since I'll be on all new, significantly faster, equipment but ally needs it more and I probably won't be in I group day 2 with the pace they run at jennings...I think, depends on how much pace difference I get after adjusting to the gixxer

Good call Private! Jennings novice is fast enough to adjust to a new machine and have a great ride. I should be able to break away for a session with ya (floki too).

Like last Feb., nearly half the paddock will be my local crew. Unless the other half is relatively new recruits, it WILL BE another fast weekend. The I group will be fun to watch as well, the skill level of riders will be all over the place.

The turn 13 crashes last Feb. where spectacular!

STT (Sportbiketracktime) has an EXCELLENT noobie coaching system! It's top knotch with classroom lessons between each session in the morning...forced guides around the track the first session and the start of the next. They also have a good coaching to rider ratio. I know of several regular riders with them who learned how to ride on the track and have never even ridden street.

seconded on sportbiketracktime they seem like they have a great organization and from my research they seem very newbie friendly. I'd ride with them if they offered track days at my local tracks, shenandoah, summit point and njmp.

Next goal is to have you privates being able to be about to mount up and ride within 10 f'in seconds. Not one swingin' d*ck private is gunna graduate my training unless they can be ready to mount up and ride in 10 f'in seconds. Start practicing!!!

I aint sure. Remember... aside of the peeps in here that are going, there are also about 30 others from Cincinnati. Most are weather watchers like me, and about 4-2 weeks from the date riders will start buying spots. It just takes a few of the "well known" riders to buy their spots and communicate it. Then everyone else start to follow without a second thought about weather.

I aint sure wtf the fuss is all about, it aint like this is the first time we have ridden track in a hurricane. lol

Or an ice storm!

Ninety percent sure I can do either weekend. The big question mark will be my finances. So far my medical bills are up to $3,224.

damn, is that out of pocket?

I can do either weekend but the real question is if I can convince someone to head down with me which can only happen when I know which weekend it is. I guess I'll worry about that closer to the date.

I prefer the backup date because I will be off of school for Mardi Gras then, how convenient!

Oh yeah. The bill itself is going to total nearly $50k. I had a $3000 deductible to meet.

even with good health insurance I clearly cannot afford to ride at the track or rather, I cannot afford to recover after crashing at the track

What is this Mickey Mouse sh*t?!?!?!? What in the name of Jesus H. Christ are you animals doing to my thread?!?!?!?!?.... Why is Private Pile talking about crashing? Why is Private Pile quoting $$$? Why aren't you stomping Private Piles guts out?

Now you listen to me Private Pile... and you listen good. You will place those bills on the deck at your feet and step back away from it.

God D*mmit.... we are learning to go fast here not learning to crash.
