New 250 in Georgetown, Texas
Hi all. My name is John Paul. I'm the proud new owner of a 2009 Black, Ninja 250r. I've had it about a week and love it so far. I'm a rookie rider and I only got into this to save $ on gas. Now, It's fun too. I turn 41 this year and I'm catching a lot of flak about hitting my midlife crisis. I keep telling them it's not midlife, I'm just cheap and $75/week in my truck doesn't make sense.
I look forward to talking to you all in the forums. |

Thanks
Took the MSF last weekend. Would have preferred to do it on my own bike(in retrospect). I've been spending some time practicing on the back streets and in parking lots.
I rode dirt bikes when I was a kid. This is definitely more fun. Except my chest hurts from laying over the tank. LOL I may be too old for a sport bike. |

Welcome
Congrats on getting back on a bike. A buddy of mine did the same thing last year and saves a good bit of money per month rather than commuting in his Subaru. It's a great hobby that spans commuting, fun rides, etc... as far as midlife crisis, even if it is there are much worse options... like heroin, LOL. For comfort (leaning, body position and the like) there are several things you can do, search around on here for some ideas. For me I did the following (coming from a guy pushing 40 )... Taller windscreen to get the air up and over me, bar risers to raise the bars (less lean), learn to relax your arms/grip and grip the bike with your legs/core support, Corbin seat made for my inseam and preferences (less lean, flatter/wider). That should give you some ideas to start with. |

Welcome to the forum... Get some riding in now because the heat in traffic can be a b*tch around here in summer.

Summer Heat
I was wondering about the heat. I only commute 16 miles but some days it can take 30+ minutes to get home. I may be putting icepacks in my helmet...
