Rear shock Preload for 2up?
I searched but could not find guidelines for setting the rear shock up for rider + passenger.
My wife loves to ride with me and I'd like to make sure my bike is set up as best as possible. I've learned to check and adjust tire pressure before each of our rides. The resources I've checked so far detail setting preload for the rider, not the passenger (owners manual, service manual, online guides, Ninjette.org search). You can probably see where I'm headed with my question. Is it possible to properly set the rear shock for the two of us? (full gear - I'm 165lbs, she's 130lbs) I should note we haven't had any problems, it's just that I'm learning more and am ready to start fine tuning/customizing. |

If you're comfortable with your own riding, the stocker is fine for the "every now and then" 2up ride. 4-5 on the ramp preload is a preferred setting based on my experience at near max load capacity on spirited rides.

Thanks Chris. We're going to change sprockets, chain and oil/filters this week, so I'll bump up the preload while we're at it and test it out.

If the rear is close to feeling uncomfortable to the bare hand, pump some more air into it and test it as well. With pre-load, the suspension will not be able to accommodate more weight; it is just the geometry of the bike, light beam and front suspension what will remain close to solo conditions.
