Will these fix that annoying fuel cap whine???

Looks like a really nice piece but will our tanks still vent properly?

So does it sit with the middle line (on the cap) vertical or horizontal?

You can align it whatever you want I think by taking off the screws and move the assembly around. Why?

the black one will turn bronze-ish if you park outdoors. i've only had it on for a couple months. you will have to loosen it every other day, unless you have strong hands. it's a little difficult to get a good grip on the tab with gloves on. i like it enough to keep it, i'm not that picky.

Can you post a picture of the dis-color issue you speak of so I can make an educated decision if this part is right for me. I surely dont want it changing colors on me. Thanks!

Put some grease at the threads to help it from binding. The maching is so precise everything fits so tight and nice. I have silver so it's all good with fading issue. I've heard that black powdercoats fade in the sun sometimes though

Likely the coloring is anodizing, which if done cheaply, will fade much faster than powder coat. Powder coat typically lasts 3-5 years of direct UV exposure before even beginning to fade. Anodizing can begin to fade in as little as a few months.

jason - if you're really leaning towards getting this, get the silver one so you don't have to worry about fading. you can always get it powder coated - there's a place near us - i will give you the 411,

Well I guess we can start with them being powder coated instead of anodizing. Why would you anodize a product that will be exposed to direct sunlight no matter if it's garaged or not (other than cost). Personally I'd rather pay a little more to have a quality product.

Matt... Do I see a group buy in our future?

here is a comparison of the color change...the gas cap matched the black tank perfectly. it's been about two and a half months. it doesn't bother me, i love the practicality...

Make sure those caps are always tight. So many of them have fallen off on the track that the AFM had to add a new rule requiring them to be safety wired.

And watch where you park. Kids like to steal them.

Well I think I will have to wait to see if this can be corrected. If I get too eager, I'll have one powder-coated locally. My

So if this will fix the whine.... does the tank still vent properly. I don't want to increase my frequency of fuel starvation either.

Well I fixed my bikes whine with the fuel lid mod. I did however use a slightly larger drill bit though.

I must be lucky, I've had my 250 for a month now and the only time I heard the whine was once when I left it sitting out in the sun then moved it into the garage.
