I love Linkin Park.
Having been an academic for many years I think "numb" was a work of genius, you could always tell the kids of pushy parents and how close to the edge those kids often were.
I don't think anyone ever said it better than this.
One of the few videos that can bring me to tears because I also dumped my academic career to become an artist.

That's your take fine. I think they are "Tears for Fears" for the 2000's. I also thought "Living Things" was a great album though many disagree.

There are no clichés and there is nothing to "see through" as you put it. It's just songs and very good songs. I have not heard the new album yet but it is on my list. I am sorry you need to trivialize good work with your little pictures.

I often wonder if there is any point debating anything on the net, nobody listens they just restate their position, it is circular.
So one last reply and I am outa here, safe in the knowledge that you wont be outbidding me on eBay
Studio magic? Strip away all the instrumentation like this
It still stands up (The a capella version of Burn it down)

Link to original page on YouTube.
and their live sound is also close enough to studio.
I guess you could say the Beatles were George Martin. maybe. does it detract? No.
I also think you are falsely conflating success with mainstream. I mean that makes Nirvana mainstream doesn't it?
If you cut my songs into bite size pieces you could probably pull clichés out too.

The music we like is not based on technicality, it is about an alchemic linkage of what was going on in our lives at the time and how it became the "theme" for those events. For example really like Curved Air Backstreet Luv Can I separate the musicality from the fact that back then I was dating a girl who looked and dressed like their singer? It all blurs into one delicious memory and the song will always set it off.
I imagine that for you also certain songs will take you to certain personal memories and that's what matters, not whether anyone else on some forum likes them, they can't, that connection is unique to you.

It did win "Best Album," didn't it? I preordered the physical disc on Amazon but got the digital/cloud version unlocked on my Amazon account with it. The thing is, it's duplicated as two albums with one saying something about "digital deluxe + booklet" despite having no booklet or additional tracks. I really want to know what's in that booklet!

My copy of Daft Punk "Discovery" is a pre-release promo disc with some plastic card thing inside with a code for access to some long-gone Daft Club online site that I wish I could still check out too.
