Exhaust for Top End

I put this in this forum because people here are looking for the top end power.

So, does anyone know who makes the largest diameter headpipes for the 250 (mine is an 09), while still maintaining the stock bracket and hanger location? i.e. passenger peg

I hear leo vince...but I cannot confirm. Basically I am lokking for pipes as big or bigger than the area p race system, but I do not want the mid to high exit point.

I have a Nojima pipe. It has a very large pipe diameter. But ended up using a first gen because all the new gen pipes go into the head, so 27mm is all you can get,

This is a shot if the Nojima header next to what I believe is an area P or a knock off of one. the one in my hand is the Nojima
both pipes have the same size pipes but the Nojima is thinner tubing. much lighter
If you want top end you need resonance and scavaging. Everything like pulling the muffler or open exhaust hurts power. The engine seems to need a little back pressure, It is not a question of jetting for the open pipe. I have been on the dyno. taken off the muffler and seen the power drop off. Then tried jetting to get it back, I really don't know the answer to the best exhaust. But long tubes have worked the best so far.

For now i think I'll keep my standard area p then. Hopefully this will work well in conjunction with my other mods to keep some back pressure.

What are you trying to do? drag? road race? ??

Remember also that these little motors can only move so much air/fuel so as has been mentioned, opening up too much will cost you power.

Do you have adjustable cam sprockets? This in my opinion, mated with a LeoVnce pipe has provided really good results over the winter.

Well, we found on the older Leo pipes and some of the other brands, that having the insert in the can created better numbers and power. All top end is ok to a point, but for me, mid-range is a great thing to have as it allows you to start off the corner sooner, thus making the straightaway longer.

Unless of course it was a track like Willow Springs or Daytona where you are spinning the top end for awhile.

Oh yes I have read both. And both have seen some shared and some different opinions. The discussion is good.
