I will never get rid of my 08 ninja. Or my 88 my 2010 or the 07 . Well I could part with my 07 but no one wants it. The 88 is in pieces and the 10 is wrecked. And I would part with them. But not the 08.

Can't. I had to sell it to afford the too-good-to-pass-up deal I got on my GSX-R.
Seriously... it was too good to pass up. Plus, while there's room in my garage for two motorcycles, I'm not sure there's room in my marriage for two motorcycles. I haven't tested that concept as yet, but 29 years of marriage have honed my survival instincts to a keen edge. I miss it all the time. Really wish I could have kept it.

Still need to find my second motor for when my current one with 75,000 miles finally does die. I think 150,000-200,000 miles out of my ninja will just about justify me picking up a new 50+ mpg ride and starting the RojoRacing modify processes all over again.

No idea how long I'll keep this particular one in the garage, but if history is any guide, I'll likely swap it for a new one the next time Kawi makes a significant update to the bike.

I've got a bigger bike... I've got the skill for a bigger bike... I've blown 2 engines... I've tacoed the frame until the wheel alignment was off by a whole 2 inches.
I guess that leaves cold dead hands?

Sold one, the 2001 is for sale, neither the wife or I really fit well on the little bikes. I really enjoyed it, but I rotate though bikes and cars so quickly, it's normal anyway.

my '01 is on it's second frame and second engine...so technically it's more finesse's old '99 than my '01 now I've only blown the engine on it once though, but I do have a 300 as well and I know I'll pretty much always have at least one of the small displacement options (that R3 is pretty tempting for street and the rc390 for track) in my fleet therefore I'll go with cold dead hands I'll always have one even if I give up on street riding and only ride track

None of those answers really fits me.
I started riding a long time ago. I've had bigger and faster bikes, but stopped riding 14 years ago. I bought 2 ninjettes. One for me and one for my 16 year old daughter that wanted to learn how to ride. It's great to have similar bikes. But I will probably replace them in a couple years as her skills grow and we are eventually planning a cross country ride. While I know it is possible on a ninjette, I'd prefer to be back on a bigger bike. Probably a sport tour or adventure bike. Then again I may just keep the little bikes around even if I do get a bigger one. |

Haha I like the people who voted "until my engine blows up" . That's awesome.
I always get asked what size my bike is. People guess 750... and 600.... When I say 250 they are usually disappointed. I usually feel pressure to get a bigger bike. Although a CBR600rr makes me and a NSR50 is super fun, my logic tells me to keep this bike. It's the perfect in-between, not too heavy for me but not too tiny, handles well, goes 100mph, gives me great mpg, is PAID OFF AND CHEAP TO REPAIR AND MAINTAIN, will last, and I like the look! KEEPING. I think it's often an ego thing.

Shooting for at least 100k before I get a second bike, then it'll be until the engine blows up. Not sure yet if I want to try shoving a 300 in there next or maybe trying to get a larger engine to fit, maybe a 500 or 650?

Awesome how many people voted: cold, dead hands

I voted 1st blown engine. I think, when that happens I'll get another almost-new, small displacement bike. At present the Ninja 300 is my favourite of the bunch. It's basically a slightly uglier (IMO!), but improved Ninja 250!

The R3 is the best of the bunch between the three
the RC390 is a track toy, it's best there but the fuel range kills it a bit for street use the ninja 300 is the best street bike of the three but falls short on the track to the other two R3 is best of both worlds, and my favorite between the three as well (I don't like single cylinders, twins feel much better to me)

I'm keeping my ninjette until...
I can see well enough to be a safe rider. I may give it away to a young rider with the right attitude to learn after that point. Having the opportunity to personally train that rider to enjoy a life of motorcycling would be extremely satisfying to me. "When I go from hence, let this be my parting word, that what I have seen is unsurpassable. I have tasted of the hidden honey of this lotus that expands on the ocean of light, and thus I am blessed—let this be my parting word." - Rabindranath Tagore

I've been eyeing a sumo, also interested in the FZ-07. I think my small sport bike days may be numbered, depending on how my situation turns out; job, location, vehicle storage, etc. That R3 has my attention though.

I have had bigger bikes. They are great. I would love an Aprilia Millie R or another VFR.
I am sticking with the 250. I just fixed my 2010 and it's ready for inspection tag and title. I have a pile of parts. And everything is on eBay. I have a nitrous whore. Fastest 250 on earth. The turbo yet to be . A stock 07 (last year for that body). And an 88 I will make a cafe racer from. All are junk with work put into them. But I know them inside and out. So they are easy to live with. Have you checked the insurance on a bigger bike?

On bike number 3 and still have the Ninjette. It costs me nearly nothing in insurance to own and I have so much time and love into modding/riding it that it would probably take it being totaled to get rid of it.

You should add "No longer have one. Still want one." Lol
I went from the 2011 ninjette to the 2013 300. I traded the 300 for a 2014 ZX6R in April of 2014. I also acquired a 2014 Ninja 1000 this May. After all that, I'd still love to have my 300 back. It was fun schooling the 600s and liters when I had it. |
