Howdy

Hello,

From dfw, tx. I picked-up a near new 2010 for my teenage daughter (and son) but she might not get it back. It is admittedly a lot of fun and is living happily with a few other bikes.

While it had less than 300 miles when I bought it, I can't help but think that it needs a little idle mixture bump as it seems EPA strangled down low and cold blooded starting. Or maybe it is just me used to about 5 times the displacement? Or maybe get out the carbtune? I have read a bit of the forum and I really do not want to twiddle it to death and would not bother to rejet it or change out the can, just destrangle it if there is standing wisdom on making it more drivable.

IME, a lot of the US spec in the past has needed the epa caps removed and a little twist of the idle mix screws.

And maybe it is just me not used to winding it up into the powerband.

Again - greetings!

Oh, and if there are any PDFs around of the 2010 owners manual, I did not get one with the bike. I have seen the 2008 and the service manual, but if there is one for the current year please PM me.

Thanks again.

Welcome aboard!

The bike is very very cold-blooded from the factory, so it's not you
Tweaking the idle mix is practically a must, as is removing the snorkel. While completely rejetting isn't necessary, I'd suggest shimming the needles a bit to improve driveability as well. But of course, that opens the 'tuning' can o' worms.
The only other item that comes up as 'they should do this at the factory' is a 15-tooth front sprocket to stretch out 1st gear and make it a bit more highway-friendly.

Hope this helps and you find all the info you could want (& more) here!

I've uncapped and reset the mixture screws, much better. And will do the shims and a 15T (maybe a rear sprocket too) over the course of the next weeks.

Thanks
