Getting back in the saddle...maybe

Hi guys.
Been lurking around this site for a while now. I just saw that Kawasaki changed the old-looking 250 into something more contemporary and it got me excited... Anyway, in college I had a CBR900RR that I turned into a streetfighter. It was my first bike. Needless to say I crashed it and got to visit the ER. I sold the bike to cover the cost of the crash, and haven't really looked back.
About 5-6 years have passed now, and my friend just picked up a used CBR600RR. Seeing him on his bike reminded me of all the joy I got out of riding. But it also reminded me of all the trouble it got me into. I know when I started out I was riding more than I could handle. Is this 250 a more "sensible" ride? Also, I'm having some trouble convincing my girlfriend that "It's ok" for me to get a bike. She worries...Any thoughts?

Welcome back to the yahooooo world. yes, the 250 is a sensible bike, easy to ride yet great to have a blast on. It is about as safe as a bike can get, other than leaving it in the garage and sitting on going vroom vroom and won't pass the space shuttle if you sneeze on a bumpy road. Tell your honey it gets 60 mpg, and it is either get a bike or chase after young girls, her choice.

The 250 is a great bike and it has a usable power range. A lot of people find the bike to be less power than they want, but it will still break the speed limit with ease.

Cool guys. Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm teetering right now between the Ninja250R and the CBR600RR. I know it's blasphemy on this green site, but I have a history with em. HAHA.

Lots of fun in the Ninja and it's more forgiving than the big power machines but if you like to learn how to corner on a bike the 250 is up there with the best of them.

Welcome from the north

Welcome - the 250 is a great bike that won;t get you in the kind of trouble your 900 did...yet you will still be faster than just about any car out there. It's alot more fun to ride a slow back fast than a fast bike slow...and truthfull this bike really isn't that slow!
