What's your main monitor's screen resolution?

I was looking at some stats for folks that use this site, and was very surprised about one in particular. Our browsers report to each web server a bunch of different information about their configurations, one piece of data is screen resolution. So I was looking at the log analysis today, more out of curiousity than anything useful, and was surprised at the top entry. By a significant margin. Here's the list:

Top 10 Screen Resolutions reported by browsers visiting ninjette.org:
  1. 1280x800 19%
  2. 1024x768 13%
  3. 1280x1024 11%
  4. 1680x1050 10%
  5. 1440x900 10%
  6. 1366x768 6%
  7. 1920x1200 4%
  8. 1920x1080 4%
  9. 320x396 2%
  10. 1024x600 2%

I would have bet just about any amount of money that the top spot was going to be 1024x768 or 1280x1024, and in fact those did turn out to be #2 & #3. But the top resolution, by a convincing margin, is 1280x800. Which is strange to me. Who uses that? What size monitor is it? Why? Inquiring minds want to know...

I would have to check to know for sure, but I do believe my laptop is 1280 x 800. My desktop is 1920 x 1080.

I'm 1280x800 most of the time. It's my laptop screen.

Other times I'm 1080x1920 when I'm on my HTPC, but that's not often for here.

Yes I would bet laptop usage is where that number comes from....easier to use than a full monitor while on the bike!

That is a pretty surprising resolution to be in the top spot. I would have guessed 1280x768 even before 1280x800.
I run 1920x1080 on my left monitor and 1680x1050 on my right.

The 1280x800 is everyone who uses a 13" Macbook, Macbook Pro, or Macbook Air. I happen to use a 13" Macbook at home.

The Powerbook G4 I use at work is 1440x960 (I think).

1920x1080 = someone using their HDTV to view the site, or a cheap 24" LCD monitor.

Makes sense, that would be a bunch of them , but all macs in total are about 13% of our visitors, and that screen resolution is used by about 19% of our users, so there have to be a pile of pc's that are also configured similarly. I don't think that there are that many people running windows on the mac and using it to browse, to make up for that large difference.

Well 1024x768 would have to be people using pretty old equipment, as it's both a low res and 4:3 aspect ratio. Probably still on CRT's

1440x900 and 1280x800 are 16:10, which is most couple-year-old laptops and LCD's.

1366x768 is almost 16:9, which is newer laptops.

Well, most of the time I spend on here is when I am at work, I run a dual monitor at work combining my laptop screen which is 1280x800 and an lcd at 1280x1024.

At home I have a 1080p monitor hooked to my desktop and 1680x1050 screen on my laptop
