Smile buell xb12r vs FZ1 ADVICE?

So I am trading my cruiser online and I have gotten some offers
XB12R 2004 with 21K
FZ1 2001 with 20K

Both bikes are very clean and very nice / I am up in the air

the FZ1 is the older version with steel tube frame and swing arm and conventional front forks with a inline four rocket engine.

Buell is belt drive aluminum swing arm projector beam headlights inverted forks peripheral break calibers and all sorts of more technologically advanced design- besides the VTWIN Harley engine

NEW>OLD
but Buell is out of buisness ? are parts hard to find?

any advice would be helpful thanks

FZ1. Many people prefer the 1st-gen FZ1 over its successors, as well. The XB12 is a compromised bike, whose sum is less than its parts. The Yamaha is exactly the opposite.

Yamaha...all the way. I loved Buell, but I couldn't purchase something that is no longer in production. No production = limited parts on shelves.

Plenty of parts out there, even at Harley dealers. Firebolt really isn't the same as a FZ1. I would say a Lightning or Ulysses would compare better.

I still keep an eye out for a nice Lightning Long or Ulysses on CL.

My biggest points for the Buell are NO VALVE CHECKS and NO CHAIN MAINTENANCE.

Youll regret getting a Buell. The FZ1 is a wonderful bike.

I'd go for the Buell, over here they are very rare and they keep their resale value well because of it, FZ1's are ten a penny.

I don't know the market where you are, bht since they are out of production i'd assume it to be the same, and with the amount of people that destroy bikes / themselves they're getting rare at a good rate!

Buell! Great bike, both my boyfriend and one of my best riding buddies have one.
BF has a Lightning City and the buddy has a Firebolt.
Wish i could ride one, just way to big for me. Maybe when i get to be a better rider.

I'd get the buell mainly because you change bikes so often. If you are planning on keeping it for a long time I'd lean toward the FZ1.

I'd personally snag an FZ1 because at this point in my life I need a balance of performance/reliability/usability. But if I were at a point where I could have bikes that are purely toys instead of being transportation as well as a toy, I'd go Buell for sure. Most likely more fun to ride, sounds good (not that the FZ doesn't), no chain maintenance sounds lovely and IMO they're just cool bikes. A little different from the rest of the pack, you don't see one every time you're out.

The rumor on the buell sites is they are coming back soon. Just have to wait and see....

Dude, you're 18. I always roll my eyes when people our age talk about stages of their life. You're still a kid. I'm still a kid. We're both still dependent upon our parents. Don't go all nickjpass on me.

So I went to see the buell - he wanted my bike and 900 bucks

he sent these awesome pics.

in real life. the chrome rims were flaked all off. the tires were borderline shot on mirror was snapped off the paint was scratched and the exhaust was totally rusted to ****.

one headlight didnt work . it started hard and the starter was not engaging properly and then it wouldnt idle.

I was life FML - he was trying to tell me how great it was and how it rides. I wanted to be like- then why is it ridding around in the back of your truck

POS

so I passed .

the dude with the FZ1 got tissy and back ed out of the trade lol

CL problems

first world problems
fixtd.

i think both are great bikes key thing is the condition rather then the brand. the xb12 is ridden hard only because it is a sports bike with a 6k red line but it is a great design. FZ1 is more touring with jap refinement. and they go forever.
