Can't wait - bike#2 this weekend!

Hey, great news, I'm picking up my bike this weekend, a 2009 Ninja 250R in blue, my second bike. Learned to ride on the same model/year, in red, last year, made a snap decision to sell it,... and regretted it immediately!
Good news is I'll be back to riding in no time, and this time I've got a clean, no drops (no, wasn't me!), low mileage, completely babied, barely broken in and stock bike to do all the tinkering and mods I planned to do on the old one!

Hope to catch you here sometime!

Candy Thunder Blue is def my new colour. Matches my Mazda Protege 5 rather nicely too. Never thought I'd have a matching set, but am loving it!

Would LOVE to know where you ride, there's a couple of long rides near Brampton calling my name, one N up Airport Rd (hills!) and the other is Forks of the Credits (of course)

Yup those two are always popular biker spots although the Forks can get pretty busy and cops like to show up as well. Just slightly outside Brampton is Hockley Valley and I've heard Snake Rd (fitting name) in Burlington is short but offers some nice twisties, never been there though.

My riding goal last year was Forks of the Credit. Made it, but didn't get to do much of it, as it was already the first week of November! Can't wait tho...

Hate to break the bad news to you but the forks have been under construction for the last year and a bit now, last time i was up that ways about 2 months ago in my truck it was still under construction so i dont know how good of a ride it would be. I would highly suggest going out to hockely tho great ride. there is a few of us in brampton someone should organize a ride one day

Dammit, I had hoped it was just closed off for the end of Fall Season, not indefinitely! Well, would love any suggestions you have, hope to really build my riding skills this summer!

sure... first, how long have you been riding and what, if anything, do you find are the weak spots about your ninjette?

Haha! I think I've sat on every make/model between 250 and 650cc, new and used, only to realize my Ninjette has the perfect balance for my size, riding style/skill level, insurance cost, etc. Not to mention it's one fine-looking ride!

Jon, the latest report I've heard is that the construction is pretty much finished at the Forks. All new black top. There may be the odd place to watch out for. I'm tempted to ride up there in my cage sometime to scout it out first before planning a ride up there. A group ride or two or three up there is something we should definitely plan for this summer

This is my second year riding, and I've got a wish list for the bike already! Easiest (and probably first) DIY mods will be a dark smoke windscreen, tank protector, reflective rim tape and a seat cowl.
Definitely will be modifying the tail, just debating between fender eliminators. Am going to have to budget for a upgrade to the exhaust, but so far prefer Yoshimura or Jardine
Then I'll have to think of something original,...

One of the first things you should consider if you do a lot of riding and are thinking of hitting some twisties is to change the tires. The stock IRCs can catch some owners by surprise with their lack of grip. Also, consider shimming the carb needles if you find the bike hard to start off from a stop and feel like you would like a bit more power when first letting out the clutch.

if you change to a full exhaust system, you will need to rejet the bike to compensate.

make sure you have a complete set of quality riding safety gear and have you taken a riding safety course?

Hey Laura there was an add floating around here for a cheap full system exhaust, i have the guys e-mail and i can send it to u in a PM if u are interested it wasnt a brand name but the entire exhaust was only like $150 plus shipping. For the fender eliminator most of the ppl seem to go the DIY route instead of spending upwards of $100. If you do decide to go with an eliminator kit make sure it comes with a plate light, we will get ticketed at night time without one. A few of my buddies have gotten them already and its a pain in the ass
