Aprilia RRV450GP

I know we have the fastest 250 riders on the planet in this forum, however; if anyone wants to step it up a notch, this really looks like fun:

Love the Aprilla bikes....but until they pull their heads out of the sand, and start making street legal bikes that we can actually get over here in the states....they are just nice to look at pictures on the net.

Aprilia does make bikes that can be purchased and ridden in the USA. Maybe I didn't understand you! Do you mean small bikes?

Yeah. Small bikes. There are a few rs50s,rs125,and rs250s here, but the states are now refusing to tag and tltle them. One guy here had a rs125, had it tagged for three years...went back to renew it, and they told him to go home.

54 bhp measured at the rear wheel... and with a full tank of gas it would still weight less than 300 lbs.

Wow...

Yeah, SXV450 with wheels and fairings. A friend has one and it's got engine issues: the fluids like to mix. Sweet bikes, just not very reliable and maint intensive.

Didn't aprilia factory tempt everybody a while back with a similair bike, it was the 550 twin stuffed into a rs125 chassis. Those damn Italian's always tempting with beautiful goodies and never delivering.

Uhh... I saw them for sale in GA in 2008 specifically as track bikes with all the street equipment removed. How did he get it registered in the first place? It's a 2-stroke.

I new a guy with an RS125 when I lived in England and that bike was crazy fast for a 125. I would absolutely love to get a smaller displacement Aprillia over her in the U.S.

The new RS125 is a four stroke. It is about as fast as the old RS50.I work for an Aprilia dealer. When I ask why they don't bring back a RS 250 with a four stroke engine? They say" America dose not want small bikes" so then they try to sell a 125 for over seven thousand dollars.
Ya Piagio has there head in there ass.

Really, what percentage of US Moto market is 250cc and below?

My question was why did the 2008 ninja 250 have thousands of un fille orders at the end of the first season if no one wants small bikes? With Honda coming out with a FI 250 and Moto GP doing away with the 125 two stroke for the 250 four stroke. Why in this economy would Aprilia try to sell a track toy for 7499.00 that only goes 60 or 70 mph at best?

Its probably to do with licencing restrictions here in europe. You can ride a 125cc 16bhp bike on a CBT. Theres definitely a market for that capacity bike over here. Thats why the YZF R125 was the biggest selling 125cc bike in europe last year.

I talk to people all the time that want small bikes. If Honda made a fuel injected 350 standard like a retro cb 350 with disc brakes 17 inch wheels .would you buy it?

Money talk, when it comes down to it, riders are not buying small displacement motorcycles. If riders stop buying cruisers altogether, maybe there might be a chance for companies to bring retro 350 or other cool format of motorcycles that would take that market share... when pigs fly I guess.
