why is my voice hoarse after I ride..
I noticed that after I ride for about 45 minutes or longer, and get off the bike and talk, my voice is really hoarse and deep lol. does this happen to anyone else? it could be cold-related cause I didn't notice this back in summer when I did longer rides. I dont talk while I ride, it's not like I'm screaming at my bike for an hour haha
..or maybe it's just that riding my bike is turning me into a man the longer I ride

nm, I am lost today....
Try chewing some gum or candy. Happen any other time, say like raking leaves/shoveling snow in the cold? How do you store your helmet? Do you suffer from allergies? Basically, if keep your mouth closed more, relax and breath through your nose would it still happen?

haha I breathe through my nose, wear a scarf when riding, and store my helmet indoors when I am not riding. it doesn't happen any other time. like I said it doesn't bother me and it goes away in half an hour or so
 it's probably the cold/wind/humidity. I just rode to class (50 min ride) and it was warmer today and my voice is normal. so it's probably that! |

OMG, that must be it. more of a 'YEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWW' but occasionally a 'WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHEHEHEHEEEEEEE' coming out of a turn.
haha I never breathe with my mouth open, always and only through my nose! apparently there are a lot of reasons why breathing through your mouth is bad for you.. other than that it makes you look kinda stupid with your mouth hanging open all the time

Eh, try being an asthmatic with a stuffed nose, i don't care how stupid i look, oxygen is goooood.
Can't say I've ever gone hoarse during a ride. I know i have gotten a sore throat from singing very badly to whatever tune was playing. I am so glad no one can hear me.

I typically just talk to myself while riding rather than singing, I've only run into the problem of a sore throat when I hadn't had anything to drink and when I scream into my helmet due to a near death experience, someone else's fault as when it would be my fault then I can just accept it much more easily. Other than that just check your helmet that it's clean enough with the ventilation and you should be good to go.
