Mount the bike from the left or right?
I am curious as to what side of the bike people mount their bikes from. I have seen some people on cruisers mount from the right and it has always struck my as odd. I have always mounted from the left because the bike leans over to the left while on the kick stand and it just seams natural to me.
What side of the bike do you mount from and why? |

On a really good day, I like to get a running jump and hop over the tail section like the old cowboys jumping onto their horses from the rear.
On a normal day, I mount from the left like normal people I've never seen anyone mount from the right. Maybe the cruisers sit low enough that it really doesn't make a difference? |

Depends on how drunk I am or what side of the garage I parked on...

After reading your post I retract my previous statement. When my bike is parked in the garage the left side is against the wall so in that instance I am forced to mount and dismount from the right side of the bike.

Left. With the angle the bike leans it's awkward to try and get on from the right. If I need to park somewhere with limited space I back in or pull in such that I can still mount/dismount from the left.

99% of the time it is from the left, but on occasion when bringing the bike into the house it is too close to the left side and I will mount or dis-mount from the right.

Even though MSF teaches left side, I mount from the right side, as Motor officers are taught! When mounting from the left, there is the possibility of hitting the bike with your leg and tipping it over to the right side. Of course, if you always hold onto the right hand grip, you will probably be OK from the left side. Police do it for traffic safety (their own!). YMMV

From the left. I'm too short to mount from the right with the bike tilted in the other direction. No parking by walls!

Definitely from the left. It just doesn't feel natural to mount from the side it's not leaning on.

I just walk out to the driveway facing the road, and I shout come here ninja. Then the bike comes charging at me, and I jump at the right time and the bike goes under me and I land on the seat. Its way cool.

Usually from the left. I'm tall enough to comfortably mount from the right but it does feel a bit unnatural with the way the bike is leaning.

Mostly from the left but if someone parks their bike to close to mine on the left then I just do it from the right or get on it from the rear. I'm pretty flexible so it isn't a problem for me. It's definitely awkward getting on it from the right though.

Mount on the left 90% of the time. The other 10% on the right from when I park my bike in the garage.
It is common for people on cruisers to mount on the right because they are usually low enough so that it doesn't make a difference, but one of the big factors is that on some bikes their handle bars come out too far, so the handlebars is leveled to hit their stomach area when mounting on the left, thus they mount on the right and avoid the handlebars completely |

I mount it from the front by performing a back-flip.
