Good deal?? Advice needed on 2nd bike.
Ok after 7-8 months or so and 9000miles of riding my little CBR125R, it's time to get something a bit bigger
Sad times I love my little CBR, have ridden her all winter here in the UK despite my nice car sat on the driveway with its air conditioning and heated seats... 2 Wheels > 4 wheels. So anyway...... Ninja250's here in UK seem to hold their price remarkably well. Am looking at this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2008-KAWAS...#ht_438wt_1255 It's actually owned by the sister of the mechanic at my local garage I use for my bike. So one would 'assume' it's been well looked after. Body work she is more or less stunning, with just a little bit of wear and tear (mild rust?) around the... oh wtf would you call it on a bike... Centre, dash bit ? But I dont see that as an issue really..... Get on well with Garage owner and he'd through MOT and the first service in as a freebie. So what do you think, yay or nay ? Gotta say I really like the little Ninja 250, though I am still drawn to a couple of other bikes as well. each having plus's, and minus's. The Little Ninja - Cheap! Gorgeous, and if well looked after should live for many many miles to come.. CBR250R - even a second hand one with low mileage is going to be £1000 more, £2000 for a new one. More mpg, nice looking... but I have to say I prefer the Ninja. ER6F (ninja 650 to you americans) - I love it but less mpg than all of the others, a new 2012 (remaining stock) model is going to set me back £5000 though. bike will be used for work + fun, normally clock up about 1k miles a month so would prefer a bike with a bit of engine life to it. Now this is a ninja forum so I dont expect ANYONE to big up the honda But what would you guys suggest. Is the Ninja linked a good deal, or should I just compensate for my clearly tiny weener and get the bigger Er6 Cheers p.s. I love lurking these forums from work |

Here in my area, one of those can go for about £1900 assuming it runs great. However, I just don't know what the market for the 250 is like over there. Otherwise, that's a great looking bike! And in picture 4, what is that that's bolted on with the chain guard? |

Why would anyone need a second bike?

My gut tells me.... just because the sister of a mechanic owns the bike, it doesn't mean that maintenance was taken care of properly.
Purchase price is a one time factor, would cost of ownership and operation change your mind? The 600 is going to be more costly over time. The only thing that worries me about the honda is, it's a new player. Longevity still needs to be proven. I have no issue with honda, normally their stuff is solid.

Personally I'd go for the ER6N but that's probably because those are rare here.

The ER6F would be my choice for 1000 miles a month commuting more comfort than the 250R and it has ABS.

The only thing a second bike is good for is for when you get a third bike that third bike is not the second bike. Otherwise, completely pointless

Sadly, false. which is why I shall not be buying one
A 'new' but 2012 model ER6F is £5400 at local dealers atm.. Ninja 300 with abs, £5200. Conclusion, 'Do not want ' And no guys it will be an upgrade from a 125. Think i'l pass on the Ninja and keep my out for some better offers. There's a few ninja 250's for sale atm, may go and have a look at a few more. Orleanne |
