New HMF Exhaust slip/on & Carb. question

Installed my new exhaust and there is smoke coming out of it. I believe its a break in thing? Correct me if i wrong! And also, how do you know if your bike is running lean or rich? Thanks in advance.

that's perfectly normal. It's just a light coating of oil on the inside from manufacturing.

Here's the technique for jetting.

with just a slip-on, you should be fine to just shim the needles out a little. Desnorkel while you're at it so you only have to adjust your jetting once. But still get a pair of jets that are 1 step larger than stock, and do some WOT tests to make sure the top end still feels good before you mess with the needles.

And is there a certain type of washer(zinc, metal) etc. That needs to be used? I know the size needs to be 3 mm.

just use standard SAE 4 washers (or 3mm ID, and as small OD as you can get) I'm not sure what metal those are specifically.

Just make sure you don't use funny vinyl washers. stick with the standard metal ones

I checked Radioshack, NO MORE. Why can use #4 washers? I thought only #3 washers could?

SAE #4 are different than 3mm. Very similar size, but different washer.

Will it work?? The DIY says that 3mm is the one you want to use.
