New to Ninjette!

Hi! After a year or so of my lifetime rider boyfriend Josh, suggesting I learn how to ride, I did! I bought a 2004 Ninja250 and I've been riding for about 6 months now. The bike looks like a total piece but the engine was modified somehow and it actually has a little pep I must say. Josh is into restoring and painting motorcycles and is in the process of doing both to my bike. Here is a picture of the planned paint job. It's just a quick photoshop picture Josh did to show me his idea. I am excited to be a part of this forum and have been havin' fun checking out everyone's cool pix and stuff! Cheers! B

Welcome to this thing of ours. You are now a part of the passion of riding for no reason through mountain passes, curves and straight aways that ride on for days, the exctacy that exist between woman and machine that exist only to satisfy the lust for speed and adrenaline. Welcome to the addiction that is known as " I am a rider, hear my machine roar."

from josh

I'm not bre, I'm the boyfriend. josh. she works a lot. but will be home soon.

I'm more of a classic honda guy, but I love the ninja 250 as it is the only bike like it. it's a shame that other co.'s don't make smaller displacement bikes. in Japan Honda still makes the 400-4 and all kinds of cool stuff. Americans are all about size. annoyingly so. I do like Honda's new 100mpg 230cc supermoto. seems like a great bike. I started out on a 74 cb200 and I bought another after having lots of 'big' bikes. I consider 750 big, though.

thanks for the input on the paint job Sailariel. I was kinda thinkin it had a 80's racing kind of feel. I'm workin on it right now, we'll post before and after pics when I'm done. it's a xmas present so it'll be done by then.

bre will prolly check in soon. she's excited about her new forum, but overworked.

Wow! What a welcome! Thanks! This is actually the first time I have EVER joined a forum or site like this. How fun. As soon as my bike is ready to go in a week or so we are going to go on a ride! Can't wait! The prep work is almost done. Paint store tomorrow! I just went to the San Mateo Motorcycle Show. Cycleworld. And of course fell in love with the new Ninjas. I must of sat on a bazzillion bikes and it was the only one that I really felt comfortable on. Of course being a newb rider and only about 110lbs it makes sense but it was everything about it. I LOVE NINJAS! Anyway, I was all geared up to buy a new one and then Josh decided with his two weeks off this month to restore my 2004. I am really excited because now I have a new looking bike and, as I mentioned in my first post, a previous owner did something to the engine to make it go fast. lol. Josh did the ton on the way home from buying it! The ton... Is that motorcycle lingo for everyone or just the people into Honda SOHC's? lol OK, gotta go... pix soon.

complete meltdown

OMG

this is Josh, not Bre.

I am about to start the final painting. finally, after lots of prep. I got everything perfect. had the fairing upper hanging from mechanic wire to keep out of the way.

then I heard a crash and cracking noises. it's got big cracks in both sides. back to prep work.

funny thing is the previous fix spots, like a tab that I reattached took the hit the hardest and are fine. guess my plastic fix stuff is really as good as it's supposed to be. it's very strong and very flexible stuff.

I am pissed at myself right now.

Well as they say that bites the bag big time. What did you find for the plastic fix that works that well?

Aloha and welcome, Bre and Josh.

Josh, how about a picture DIY on fairing repair? It would help a lot on this forum. ...and consider establishing an account of your own so we can keep track of who's posting. You don't need to be a 250 ninja owner to be a forum member here and we always welcome knowledgeable people who can give a helping hand to others.

Bre... have fun with your "new" bike. You did well in choosing a used bike as your first... you'll see what I mean in the future.

Hope you both have fun in the forum and become regular members here.
