Who here wears non-perf leather in heat?

Is It really bad as in would make you want to buy a 2nd jacket?

I have 2 suites for a reason. A* perf for warm/hot and an old AGV non-perf for colder weather. I about die in the AVG above 65 degrees.

I wore a non-perf two piece suit in 95-degree weather. It was really hot but nowhere near dying.

To race at the Bonniville Salt Flats you are required to ware nonperferated all cow leathers. The fear is oil or fuel will soak through the perf. The reality is the burning fuel will boil the sweat to steem and burn you anyhow. But the rule stands.

I have a vented leather jacket and a mesh jacket. I like the mesh jacket with a sweatshirt for most days. During our winter I love having the leather jacket with the liner but once the sun comes out and you hit spring, you'll wish you had a cooler jacket. Color makes a big difference. If you want to get a leather non-perf jacket, get one that is a light color and has a good amount of vents.

Since we live in similar environments, I recommend a perf leather jacket with a windproof quilted thermal liner.

Kinda off-topic: Since this is your first jacket, spend less money on it and get a versatile textile jacket. Once you start riding you'll know what kind of gear you like and want. Then you can spend the real money on leathers.

im from inland southern california. i'm used to hot weather, so i have non-perf for summer and winter jackets. even non perf when you're moving stays cool. only really will start getting you if you sit still in the sun... and even then only darker colors.

I was thinking about textile but rather pay a bit more looked all around cyclegear got a feel for different jackets.

No argument there but then again there are textiles that hold up very well.

textiles are strange. they hold up fine but because they're thinner little things like rocks that you slide over, while not breaking or penetrating the textile, still are able to deform the textile as its dragged over... which means instead of a rock sliding against your skin its a rock shaped piece of textile... leather helps against this a lot more. first slide i performed in textiles the fabric itself was only slightly damaged but the skin underneath was rashed and cut. perffed textiles are even worse for this and they'll even catch rocks and keep dragging them
