[visordown.com] - New Ducati teaser video promises lowspeed excitement

HERE'S Ducati's latest teaser video ahead of its nine-model unveiling at the Milan motorcycle show next month.

The ambiguous 40-second video ends with the message 'What is X?' It follows an earlier teaser video which asked 'What is black?' and leads us to the less cryptic question, 'What are you talking about?'

The new video shows us a series of images containing the letter 'X' while a voice-over says: 'The intersection of worlds. The road along which you discover you're part of something. The multiplication of potential. Maximal strength with minimal effort. Facing forward, forgetting what is behind. Different from what you knew. Low-speed excitement.'

That's Word Wang.

It ends with the written messages 'The is X' and 'November 16th', the date of Ducati's pre-Milan show unveiling.

Our best guess is that it could be referring to the belt-drive cruiser we've seen in spy shots - unless Ducati has finally decided to make that scooter it's hinted at in the past.

The latter would certainly explain why Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali said two of the nine new models would take the firm into 'segments in which we’re currently not present’.

We know that one of the nine is definitely the recently launched Monster 1200R and another is almost certainly the 959 Panigale that's been spotted on test.

You won't have to be in Milan to see the rest unveiled on November 16 because Ducati is going to live-stream its pre-Eicma show presentation here.

I would have to believe it is a Scooter since it would be nearly sales suicide to introduce a new bike with the word "Slow" as its selling point. Ducati is a performance brand so a bike advertised as slow would not be desirable but a scooter listed as a low speed performer would sell well. The Ducati X scooter would be cool but a 250cc (or 400cc) motorcycle advertised as slow would not make sense, even to a new rider. I would love it if Ducati released a 400cc small bike (Monster or ST) but not if everyone call it the "slow" model!

Agreed, a small displacement, light weight street bike to compete against the new class of small street ...KTM 390, Ninj 300, Honda 500, etc.

Emphasis on light weight, handling, ease of service (air-cooled twin?) style and *FUN* for both entry level and advanced riders. A potent powerplant too, please.

Loose the complex, modern electronics to keep entry cost down, competitive and reasonable.

Ducati *can* do this....and SHOULD.

But my Lord please...no scooter.

Well hold on, doesn't BMW have a pretty large sporting scooter out that's basically a supersport killer dressed as a practical vehicle? I seem to remember Ari Henning and the gang doing some comparisons in the twisties with that and an NC700 maybe...?

Now I'm starting to wonder if it is competition for the BMW G310 stunt bike

Looks like it's gonna be a belt driven cruiser/diavel update.

Not possible. Doesn't have valves to check every other ride or 38 moving parts to accomplish the same thing that a Japanese bike would use 2 parts for, and I don't to have s** with it so it's obviously not Italian.

My thought on their "two new markets"

1. Grom (and now Kawasaki) fighter.

2. Electric

If Honda can sell all the Groms they can build for $3100 wouldn't people pay a few hundred more for a ducati?
