[visordown.com] - Will the Ninja 300 be updated for 2016

Pic: Motoblast.org

THIS is what an updated Ninja 300 might look like, according to some Asian bike titles.

The renderings have been produced by Indonesian website Motoblast for Japanese magazine Young Machine, possibly because it believes Kawasaki will show an updated Ninja 300 at the forthcoming Tokyo Motor Show. In Asia, the Ninja 300 exists as the Ninja 250, so an update to the 250 will be applied to the bike we have here.

In the rendering, the little Ninja’s styling has been sharpened up to bring it more in line with Kawasaki's larger capacity sports bikes; it’s got a more aggressive front fairing and the seat unit looks it could have come off the recently unveiled 2016 ZX-10R or ZX-6R. The exhaust has also been moved under the bike.

We'll let you know if it makes an appearance on Kawasaki's stand at the Tokyo show.

I like the look of the new exhaust and swingarm. Wonder if anything else is in the works?

The new exhaust is a great change

I've had passengers melt shoe soles on the stock exhaust since the heat shield is not long enough to cover in the case that the passenger uses it as a footrest

what I'd be looking for

improved suspension - specifically front end
improved front master cylinder
slightly higher seat (or an aftermarket seat that is taller, anyone know of anything of the sort for the 300's?)
that annoying windscreen gap to be removed (they got rid of it with the zx10r so it's possible)
an updated dash (the current one is fine but it lacks compared to the r3's sweet dash)
the stock exhaust to be like the one shown in the picture so any passengers don't get their foot burned by the exhaust, but only because I'm one of those weirdos that doesn't get aftermarket exhausts instantly

No it won't!

New colors and graphics that's all...
US market
300 ABS KRT: Lime Green Ebony
300 ABS: Passion Red or Metallic Matte Carbon Grey
300 SE: Metallic Moondust Grey/Ebony

Canadian market
300 ABS KRT: Lime Green - KRT
300 ABS: Metallic Matte Carbon Grey or Candy Burnt Orange
300 KRT: Lime Green - KRT
300: Metallic Matte Carbon Grey

Sorry for the other markets, too lazy to list them all...

Maybe next year they'll come up with something to challenge the competition... Guess we'll have to see what's the big announcement planned for december...

I immediately disregard the pics as soon as I seen a non steel tube swingarm. plus it has a 650 exhaust, zx6 rear end, and the versys headlight area. Clearly someone just mashed this together like the 99% of other "concept" pics.

Young Machine is about as trustworthy as your average supermarket tabloid. They exist to create unfounded buzz... clickbait, nothing more.

Too soon for an update by a few years at least. Proposed update would drive the price up too high anyway. Next year: More BNG. Take it to the bank. Why? Because that's what everyone else is going to do, while they recoup development costs.

Kawi has a winning formula: Build on a proven platform and keep pumping it out as long as sales stay strong. And I'll bet that despite the new competition, they are. They have little reason to rethink what works.

Pretty much the same philosophy that Yamaha has followed with the R6. That bike hasn't changed since 2008... and it's still pretty sweet.

That's why in the Ninjette we have a bike that, frankly, hasn't changed all that much in many years. Take the fairing off and what have you got? It's evolved, sure, but it hasn't undergone a truly radical shift. Basically the same engine, pretty much the same frame and suspsension. Proven success.

Well, one things for sure....that swingarm will never find it's way onto a ninjette.
Unless the MSRP goes up by about $500 bucks.
